I am not quite sure where to put this but this is just for sewing with denim in general, not necessarily sewing clothing or crafts because I do both.
I am having tons of problems with my machine sewing denim. I am at my wit's end now. I have a Husqvarna Viking Huskeystar C20. It is a good little machine that does everything I wanted BUT sewing denim. I am not sure why. It would sometimes sew denim if it is 2 layers but say if I want to make little dolly jeans or something nope... it hates me.
Here is how I treated the denim:
1) fray check it
2) fold the hems together and pin it down (I remove the pins as I sew along)
3) sew with machine
Then the machine would hardly move the fabric so it jams and then the machine would eat it. I checked the tension and the foot pressure but still nothing. The best I got the machine to do is move it manually but the stitches would either be very small or the tension on the back would suck horribly. I am at my wit's end. My hand stitching is a lot faster than that!
So sewing gurus of craftster: any tips on how to make sewing denim NOT a living nightmare? Should I zigzag the edges first before sewing or use a serger first before sewing? Any special tips I should know?
Thank you so much for reading this plea for help and I hope you have a wonderful day.
