1  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: The Beginner's Top-Down Raglan (patt. incl.) on: May 05, 2008 03:59:00 PM
Yes, it's the boatneck version, $5 in Paris.

I knew that I would need to make the biggest size they had, so I casted on 176 sts (for the large) and followed the pattern as is. When I had did the round repeats 7 times for arm increases, it didn't fit, so I kept adding more. I think it took about 12 repeats to finally get it to work. But no, it wasn't all that hard to figure out, but it was a pain.  Sad

The recommended Caron Simply Soft is what I'm using, color is DK Country Blue (so I can wear it to school even with it's evil uniform policy).

Thanks for the complaments everyone!

it took a while, but now this thing fits!  Grin
1 skein down, who knows how many more to go!

I finally got the courage to start my sweater! This will be sweater #1.
But it's getting discouraging; I'm following the large $5 in Paris pattern and I think it's still too small for me. The markers will meet under my arm but I can barely move it it! Should I just add more arm increases or start from scratch with more stitches?!

I'll keep working on the arm increases for now.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Yay for Rachel! Reborn and whatnot...

The eyes are actually beautiful green...the paint job amazes me.

I think you should take her with you wherever you travel and snap plenty of pictures!...I'd love to see a whole album of 'Rachel at _____'....like, Rachel at the Eiffel Tower, or at the Grand Canyon, or at your company christmas party...lol

I want to do that, but there's nothing around here that's cool! Also, I have play pratices and state testing for school coming up, so finding time has been difficult. Once I do get some pictures, I will put them on here.

I have a head as well.. but I had to pay for it.. Sad

I use it all of the time to practice my face painting.. (it's what I do for a living!)

I wish I could face paint like that! I love the butterfly and the rabbit made me laugh! Keep making that money!   Grin

Why would someone throw that away?!

Because that person did not see the coolness of Rachel, sadly
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Rachel the head on: February 29, 2008 07:51:51 PM

Once upon a time, my friend Haija was drving with her dad, giving newspapers to the local buisness before they would open for the day. When they arrived at a dollar store, they glanced at the trashcan and saw this poor mannequin head, used for cosmotology classes. The thing looked so horrible that we had to wash the hair before figuring out what we were gonna do with it!

We named it Rachel; the name is written in sharpie on the back of her neck. Sharpie was also applied to other places, as you can see...
After a much needed washing, we scrubbed Rachel's forehead for like a hour to try and get the word HEAD off of her. It's not completly gone but it looks so much better. Than we used nail polish remover to take off the eye paint, she was blue-eyed, but now she's got green eyes. And we just took red paint and painted over the lips.
Oh yea, forgot to mention; Haija has a thing for piercings. So now Rachel has snakebites and a nose piercing...

WOOOO Rachel looks like a new woman...I mean mannequin

I saw this on the front page and put my hands to my face and was like "O MY GODD IT'S CUUUUTE!"

Very nice indeed. Shame that I can't crochet.
9  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: cereal boxes? on: August 06, 2007 03:06:44 AM
I don't know if you are into it or not, but for Halloween, someone glued/taped/?? mini cereal boxes to their outfit, stabbed the boxes with plastic knife, decorated the boxes with fake blood, and went out as a "serial killer". I don't know if regular-sized cereal boxes would work though.

You can turn 4 bracelets into a flower bracelet.
