21  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / v.s. PINK tag magnets on: July 17, 2009 07:00:03 PM
Okay so not the most brilliant idea ever but i got new panties today and i turned the tags and stickers into magnets!!  I thought they turned out pretty cute so i thought I'd share them.

ya know those business magnets you have stuck all over the fridge? they can be great for turning anything into a magnet as long as its not too heavy... just add glue...

thanks for lookin...

23  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: Stupid English Project!!! Why'd I decide to make an island!!!! (pic heavy) on: January 08, 2009 01:31:29 AM
nice work... i can appreciate a good school project when i see one... especially the group projects that you get voted to do all the work just because youre the "creative" one of the group.  yeah story of my life lol

but this reminds me, my junior year of high school, we read "the crucible" about the salem witch trials, and our group had to depict the scene where the girls are dancing around the fire.  we ended up making this huge diaroma using barbie dolls and real light bulb for the fire... it turned out pretty awesome!

This is so creative! Thank you for sharing. If I ever have to give a cash gift, i'll keep this in mind. That link to that youtube video helps a lot too... makes me want to make little star earrings  Cheesy

i make those star earrings all the time they are cute!  it helps to coat them in mod podge to make them hard so they wont crush or turn to mush if they get wet.

Do you have any pictures of before the money was added?

Did the bank people give funny, suspicious looks? Smiley

no i dont have any pics of the before...sorry.  it was just a bunch of spiraly stars and buttons... it wasnt as full as the money bouquet, but still cute.  it kinda gave me an idea for centerpieces like for a reception or party.

and i just explained to the bank teller before i even asked lol... i have to explain myself for alot of wierd craft projects lol.

oh yeah i forgot to mention one very important thing...  the money flowers only work with new crisp dollar bills.  old ones wont curl up at all, i tried.  i had to go to the bank and ask for new ones.

This is really beautiful! If I received this, I would never be able to use the money. It is way too cute.

Yeah, this is almost mean!  I don't think I could harvest that twenty bucks, either.

oh trust me... she will get that money out...lol.  i made sure to make it to where it will still be pretty even after she takes the money flowers out.  i made the arrangement first without the money to see what it would look like, and it was still pretty.

This is awesome! If your friend is crafty, she might be more excited about the vase o' buttons.

yeah shes not crafty at all actually lol but her sister is so she'll probably claim them!! but yes i wasnt excited about cutting into my button collection... but it made the vase prettier Smiley

Is there a tut you could share? I know some of those hard to buy for people too!!

i didnt take any pics while i was making it but each flower is $2.  i took a toothpick and curled the corners in to make rose like pedals, then scrunched the middle together and put a wire around it to make the stem. use two of those to make one flower.  then the rest was just free handed. put beads and buttons on wires and twist them into spirals.

as for the chinese paper stars... i learned how to make the a while back... it took me a little bit to figure them out but once i did they're easy. heres a link to youtube instructions:

I have never liked giving money as a gift, but some people are just so difficult to shop for that you have no choice.  So i made my friend a money bouquet.

made with $20... one dollar bills...buttons...beads...wire... and chinese paper stars.
