Our parks and recreation hosted it's second ever "Doggy Dip Day." It's a day to bring the dogs down to the Spring Fed pool and let them loose for a few hours of fun. We went to the first one back in the spring, and it went over so well, PARD decided to do it again! Only this time, the invitation read, "Costumes Required." I whipped up a bikini for my friend's Boston Terrier, June, and a dress for my labrador, Latte.
And they ended up winning second and first place because nobody else dressed their dogs up!
So, here's the photographic goodness (click for larger. Images hosted at FLICKR).
First, June's bikini (I'd made it with her measurements, but it ended up being too big, and my friend had to keep the skirt off when she was swimming so we wouldn't lose it. I should have used elastic):
Next, my Latte dog (I made this using three of my old, ugly, free t-shirts that I never wore, and designed it on the fly, using no pattern, and just the dog as my form--yay for passive doggies!).
And, action! Oh, and Latte's dress was much more form-fitting till she went swimming with it, but it held up pretty good! Also, she won the flowery lay (sp?) as part of her prize.
