Murbeck, I was married 10 years and 35-almost 36-when mine came along. And we didn't think it would happen either. Which is why I have a middle schooler when the rest of my compatriots are grannies.
And since menopause hit way early, she's an only. I truly hope things work out for you, and I'm sending lots of good vibes your way!

Oh, I feel your pain! I covered half of an item with fabric. Went to cover second half, and found I had messed up cutting the fabric, and what I had left couldn't work. We clearanced some nice strechy fabric booksox, in the coolest patterns. No problem,I thought, I'll just buy another tomorrow.Nope, sold out. Oh, and the thingy that was being covered? Those were all gone,too-so not just starting from scratch! Apparently everyone else liked that design, too. So I subsituted some amateur painting instead.
So it's completely different from what I envisioned. But it turned out.

Radegund, is that enough of a tease for you? Cheesy

Thank you, elwynceltic, for being the photographer for both of us! I loved all my goodies. I get compliments all day long when I wear the fairy jewelry. It's going to be such fun planning a fairy house this year! The one chair just needed a little bit of glue, the  post office only shook it up slightly. I'm kind of suprised the gnome garden didn't arrive at your house  in little bitty pieces Grin. I found a watering can for him the day before I packed it up, so I think he is a luck magnet. I'm glad your kids liked the books-that's such a cute picture of them.

Okay, be proud of me. When I got home I immediately started finishing the fiddly bits on a couple of items BEFORE I sat down to read craftster. The end is in sight!

Yay! Just sent in my info. I'm a geezer with a kid,so I don't get out to concerts much anymore, but I love Jimmy Buffet! I'm a fan from way back.
Fun stuff inspired by the music is what I'm thinking of. I had a vision of the perfect swap item, and I can't wait to get started on it!
And since I am a bookstore geek,I've read the books. Nerds love jimmy, too,ya know. Grin

I got my small almost done, then abandoned it to work on my large. The large is close to being done,so of course I abandoned it to work on my medium! Anyone else have trouble making themselves do the last fiddly bits? Still,it's been coming along swimmingly. Then I just found something totally bizarre on the dollar shelf that would be so cool to build around. So I'm crossing my fingers that nothing interferes with devoting my next day off to crafting Cheesy.
This has been a lot of fun.
2359  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / crunchy sweet granola on: April 25, 2008 04:24:33 PM
I love to munch handfulls as a snack. It never lasts long! It's a pretty flexible recipe,so you can add or change things.

Extra-Sweet Granola

1/2 c.applesauce
1/4 c.honey(if your'e vegan,maybe subsitute another sweetener)
1 tab. vegetable oil
3/4 tea.salt
2 1/4 c.oats(I just use quaker oats,or store brand, the stuff in the cannister)
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. grape nuts-I never seem to have wheat germ on hand, feel free to use that instead-it'd probably be better Cheesy
1 tea. vanilla extract
1/2 c. sliced almonds(or whatever nuts you like)
1/2 to 1 cup dried fruit-I use 1/2 cup dried cranberries,1/4 c.golden raisens,and 1/4 c. regular raisens,use what you like.Get a little bag of dried mixed fruit at the gas station-why not?

Mix everything EXCEPT dried fruit in a big bowl.As one granola recipe I read once says,"otherwise you get little fruit flavored bullets in your granola". Lightly grease a 9 x 13 baking pan or jellyroll pan,you need a pan with sides,so a cookie sheet won't work.Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes, stir thoroughly every 10 minutes.Mixture will be toasty brown.Stir in dried fruit and eat.Store in an airtight container.Makes about 4 cups.
You can change the amounts of fruit and nuts.Maybe use a little of your favorite sweet spice instead of,or in addition to,the vanilla. If you do,I'd just use a little. I wing this one a lot,but I had to contribute to a work cookbook once. So I carefully measured and made a batch.I've never tried alternate sweeteners, like agave nectar or maple syrup. If anyone here does, let me know how it comes out please!

Hee,it's going to be interesting when she joins craftster and looks up my old posts.
Speak of the devil-she got on craftster when I was watching CSI( she was playing a computer game when I started),and looked up one of my old posts about her earring trouble! Sent someone a pm thanking them and everything. They were a little puzzled, since it was such an old post...So we had a little talk about not using someone else's account.Oh,well, she could 've done worse. Roll Eyes
So I think I'm going to let her read posts now,any pm's must come from me,and she can sign up for her own account next year.
Thanks for your point of view, Aislynn. That middle ground is tough! I grew up overprotected, and ignorent of so many things-I have to make a concious effort not to do the same to her.But I figure being aware of it's half the battle.
