2121  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Old car keys?? on: August 23, 2010 09:11:42 PM
Put it in your signature, offer to trade a stash of keys for something you want, like scarapbook paper or yarn or whatnot?
Steampunk jewelry uses keys. Make a frame/glue them on a frame as a border, for a picture of a car?
I do like the windchime idea.

Perhaps cut out the good bits, and put them on a backing-a sheet, perhaps?-and make an awesome shower curtain? Or if you're an expert sewer, isn't towel material similar to terry cloth bathrobes? make/embellish a robe to wear?

What can I do with too small belts, besides give them away?

2124  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Any one have any horse or horse related craft ideas? on: August 23, 2010 08:24:21 PM
Do you have access to old horseshoes? I could see turning one into a picture frame, add something so it can stand, or be hung up, add a snapshot of the camper, maybe decorate it a little? Or just make it a frame. A neat memory of camp.
Small cheap wooden boxes from the craft store. They can paint them, or not. Horse and horse related pictures cut out of equestrian magazines, or photocopied, to glue on top. To make a trinket/treasure box. Spray a coat of sealer on top.
Bookmarks? Pictures again, use a gluestick to stick them to construction paper.
Or, if you can find any horse related charms cheaply, make a ribbon book thong type bookmark.
Shrinky dinks? They color them, punch a hole in them, bake them, and attach them to a keyring? That could be for keyrings or jewelry.
A suncatcher? There's lots of them on here, maybe there's an easy tute. One I kind of remember from Highlights magazine involved pieces of colored tissue paper, and the outline of the design was cut out of a sheet of black construction paper and laid over the tissue, a stained glass effect. I suppose it could be sandwiched between a thin piece of clear plastic for durability, and cut 2 frame shapes from the contruction paper to sandwich it between? My memory is really vague on this...
Magnets of some kind?
Decorate the cover of a notebook, or a journal? Use plain or lined paper and make a blank book, punch holes in the edge, and string the paper together with yarn or twine or ribbon, something thicker like cardboard for the cover perhaps, and decorate them?
Hope this helps. Good luck with camp!

Cheap instant spanish rice on a tortilla, Add a lettuce leaf and a dab of salsa if I have it, I'll eat this cold.

Mix peanut butter and honey, cover a tortilla, add sliced apple, roll up and eat.

LOL Monster soda huh? Wonder what that was for.... hmmmmm

Okay, I lied. I also bought a roll of tape. Smiley And two cans, come to think of it.
And you'll see! It's just one little part of a couple of somethings, nothing big.
For the record, Monster/Arizona cans are thin enough to cut with scissors, and not deadly sharp. I think I want to start using them as a craft item now. If I just had some decent punches that would cut more than paper....
