1901  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / what's the best thing for razor burn? on: May 10, 2011 09:06:32 PM
Okay, the teenage DD is begging me to let her use Nair, so she can quit shaving with a razor. No matter what she does, she tends to get razor burn. And I'd rather not get her started on using a chemical hair remover regularly.
She soaks in a tub or shower first to soften the hair, shaves with the direction of growth, keeps the razor clean(one site suggested cleaning them with alcohol to kill bacteria), and uses a moisturizing gel shaving cream. And smooths on lotion afterwards. I've run out of things to suggest.
I'd be thrilled to whip up a batch of  lotion or whatever if anyone can suggest something that works for them. Any ideas?

I hope the vinyl disk was already broken, otherwise I'd have to call you 'music murderer'.
Just kidding, it's nice ^^

Hee, I know what you mean, I still have some treasured old vinyl. And something to play it on, even. Heck, my sis and I would play with my mom's old victrola when we were little, it was such fun winding it up and playing the old foxtrots and stuff.
But the record bowl? I rescued a giant box of old albums someone put out for junk day-minutes ahead of both rain and city truck. Old, missing the sleeves. I scrubbed them all thoroughly, never fear! They were stacked neatly in a box, no yucky stuff at all, just someone tossing out their collection.  But they were on their way to oblivion anyway, so I don't feel guilty about crafting with them.
I admit, I have been know to snag old vinyl at Goodwill if it has a nifty sleeve-one of these days I'll make record purses. And also from the used book and music store, when vinyl's been marked down to almost nothing. Because it's scratched, or stuff that no one will buy, and the store was going to get rid of it to make room.
So, am I downgraded from murderer?  Cheesy

Aw, I'm sorry the ginger didn't make it. I bought that chunk for less than 2 dollars at the health food store, and I've also seen it at kroger. If you can't get it where you live, I'll get you some more.
Here's two links I found on growing and using it, I forgot to give you those.

I made pincushions like that one year with a group of little girls. But we used larger bottle caps-say, like what would be on a can of spray paint, or maybe detergent, that size. They came out looking like cupcakes, it was so cute!
And I'm loving all the quilts.

I love the steampunk gal!

And here's photos of my thank you from Orange knickers. She made me the best little fairy house. It's sunny at the moment-finally!-so I took it outside and set it on a fence post for some action shots.

Still crafting! So far I love how it's coming along, I want to keep it! But I know I'll be sending late. It's just taking more time than I thought it would, and work has been eating my time lately.
Well, when I get back from family visit tonight, I can squeeze in a little more crafting today.

I just received my thank you gift from Orangeknickers! The most adorable little fairy house! I love it, and look forward to showing it off here.
I just got home from work, and have major time commitments tonight, so I promise to takes pictures and post them sometime tomorrow.
