1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My Reupolster Project on: January 25, 2009 11:46:26 AM
So, I was so inspired by KairiGurl's loveseat https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=228476.0 that I decided to do one myself.  It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

I did take before pictures, I just can't find them.  So just imagine nasty, dirty, whitish corduroy all over with torn up arms from a vicious kitty...

Heres the out come:

I got the couch for free off Craigslist.  The hard part was tearing everything off.  The rest was pretty easy.  I got the fabric from Joann's. The shells is this blue/brown psychedelic crinkly stuff that changes color depending on how you look at it, and the cushions are a durable stripey brown.  I sprayed scotch guard all over when it was finished, and I keep a blanket on the back to protect it from my devil cat.  I believe it was like, 9 yards of the blue and 3 yards of the brown.  I paid around $100 for the fabric, it was on sale. I even added some extra padding to make it a little more plush.  The padding  wasn't quite long enough, so it looks a little lumpy, but nothing real noticeable.  I just stapled everything down. I probably should have sewed the cushions, but I was feeling extra lazy so I just hot glued the hell out of them.  I'm pretty proud of my self anyway.
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Making paperweights on: November 14, 2007 10:19:14 PM
Hello craftsters-

so, I found these paperweights that I really really want. They are dandelion puffs encased in resin. I've only ever used resin ondce when I made a HUGE coffee table out of leftover brick and mortar and wood to cover all the brick and mortar to give it a nice smooth top. That was super easy, I just mixed and poured. Can anyone tell me how I could go about making these awesome awesome paperweights? THANX!!

3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Silk Dandelions?? on: September 10, 2007 03:16:19 AM
I know it seems silly, but I want to incorporate dandelions into my wedding (theres a story between my sweetheart and I). I'm doing silk flowers, but I cant find anywhere to buy fake dandelions. Any ideas??

On another but similar note, I don't want to carry a bouquet. What is an alternative for the bride to carry? THANX!!
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Halloween Wedding on: August 26, 2007 08:45:42 PM
Hello craftsters! I just got engaged, and we set a date for Halloween '09. I know I have lots of time, but I figure if I start planing a little at a time, I wont reach that point where I say, "Screw this, lets go to Vegas!"

I know I dont want a blood filled, gorey themed wedding. Im NOT going to be the bride of Frankenstien... the colors will NOT be orange and black. But I'm thinking maybe we'll wear traditional Indian wedding veshti (dhoti) and kurta (sp?) and saree. We're not Indian at all, but the clothing is beautiful and elegant and off beat for us...

I dont want it to be traditional by any sense. Its going to more of a handfasting/pagan type ceremony with vows and ring exchanges taking place.

I would love ideas and tips and tricks. THANX!!

5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Thanksgiving / Decorating For Thanksgiving on: November 02, 2006 01:31:44 PM
I am hosting my first ever family Thanksgiving dinner this year(considering I've been married 5 years, thats a little sad) and I've got the menu down, but I want to really decorate! I want to make a table centerpiece, and napkin rings, and learn some cool napkin folds. I thought about making a cute little chalkboard menu board displaying the days feast also.

So how about some ideas?

For the centerpiece I thought about taking some fake fall leaves, and pumpkins, and acorns and maybe stratigically putting family photos in it with something like "Reidlinger Thanksgiving 2006" at the top.

Any ideas would be GREEAAAATT!!!
