11  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Painting... with lace? on: June 16, 2005 09:59:34 AM
All right... here's my situation. I'm moving into a new house in August (yay!), and I have the master bedroom (even more yay!). It's really long and kind of narrow, so as the walls and carpet are all white, I thought I'd paint an accent wall. It seemed kind of boring, but since I'll be moving out of the house in a relatively short period of time, I didn't want to do anything drastic. THEN I thought it would be awesome if I could have a lace design on the wall.

My question is this: Has anyone tried this idea in the past? I'm thinking I could buy panels of lace (like for curtains) and pin them to the wall and then just roll paint right over, leaving a lacy design on the wall. I'm not entirely sure if the paint would get into all the nooks and crannies, though... which might make it look crappy. In that case, I suppose I could just paint the wall and then tack up the lace and leave it.

Any ideas on how I should approach this?

It's gorgeous maternity clothes like your shirt that makes me jealous and wish I were pregnant.  Grin

I'm not *positive* this would work, but you might want to buy some acrylic matte medium and paint that over the Sharpie-art. Like someone said, whatever you do, try it out on something else first! You don't want to risk that amazing skirt!

I like it! Personally, I think the bow might look good at the base of one of the straps. Just a personal preference, but I think it looks great right now.

I definitely love the Nirvana hoodie. I'm from the Seattle area... those would sell like hotcakes around here.

The reason why photos don't look good online: they download at a resolution of 72 pixels, so no matter how clear they were on your camera (meaning lots more pixels), it gets crummy as soon as it hits the WWW. Sometimes it helps if you decrease the resolution to 72 before you upload, and it will definitely make it faster to upload and download.

I'm not really a tie-dye fan, either. I don't know what possessed me to buy this a few years ago, but... now I'm happy with my skirt. I never wore the dress anyway.

You've single-handedly started a new trend in lingerie!

I know, seriously. I started thinking about all my friends who are getting married this summer. It would make an awesome gift for a lingerie shower or bachelorette party...  Kiss
