8011  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Leap into the New Year FROG Swap on: February 29, 2008 03:31:09 PM
This is bad.  I received today and I just sat down to PM the organiser that I had received.   I have worked WAY too much overtime.
I'll try to get pics tomorrow.

I didn't get it until I looked at who posted and then I laughed.

I'm on the fence about round 2...I have a few long overdue commitments that I need to take care of first. If I can finish those up before signups end, then I'll join in!
8012  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Altoid Tin Theme Swap Round 10 Gallery on: February 29, 2008 03:09:39 PM
nosusanfx, what an excellent tin! I can't imagine the time that it took to decorate the outside (awesome job, ateapartyscandal!). I love the skull beads, and the shrinky dink skulls came out fantastic, as did the little bear!

tracey87, the tin that you received is adorable. One of may favorite Disney films! And such cool little "thingamagigs!" Love the jewel magnets Wink And, the tin that you sent to "Holliewood is so clever! i really like the tetris magnets.

Hi mountaingrrl! The edging is just bias tape binding...which I have now decided I definitely hate working with Wink

ckchan- Sweet little tin! I wish that I could draw even half as well as crochetninja! I love the little mushroom stitch markers, too!

It works pretty well. But, if you make a mistake when sewing, you end up with little holes in the plastic. If you can find a way to fuse it again without fusing it to your fabric, you should be all set. Otherwise, it's water "resistant" instead of water "tight" Wink

Thanks! My own bag, the one I modeled this after, is ripping in 2 places, so I might salvage the zippers and the handle and make a new one for myself!

I made this toiletry bag for a swap, and I was so darn proud of it, I just had to show it off. It is far from perfect, but I didn't use a pattern- I modeled it off of one that I own. I used fused plastic bags for the lining to make it water resistant. It wasn't very hard to make, but I put the zipper in waaaay too soon, and made it much harder on myself. The next time I make one, I'll know better...I hope Wink

8019  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: ****NOW WITH TUTORIAL**** red eyed tree frog on: February 28, 2008 03:03:54 PM
I finally had a chance to make one of these. The pattern was very easy to follow! In fact, I have to make another one this weekend!

Here he is on the closest thing to a tree he could find while indoors in the middle of February...

Thanks, wibit, for sharing such a great little frog pattern!

My partner, mom2blu, can't find her camera cord, so to take some of the pressure off of the search, I thought I'd post a pic of what I sent.

I sent her two fabric books for her son, Shoot the Moon by Billie Letts, and The Universe Below by William Broad (an excellent book about the history and science of deep ocean research, which sounds like an odd choice, but she said she liked to research things). I also sent the tote bag and one bookmark, which has a quote by Thomas Jefferson-"I cannot live without books."

And, as I posted earlier (but I'm going back to delete that post), the bag unfolds into a good-sized tote bag. My mom helped me do the monogram on her embroidery machine.
