7601  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: The Science IS Art! swap gallery on: May 09, 2008 04:02:55 PM
Wow! So many amazing packages! I hope I have enough adjectives for them all

I love the constellation yarn art! Its such a cool idea! And the Hide-A-Book is excellent- I love all of the music terminology (the geeky part of music) on the front!

Love the crocheted (?) DNA! And the heart bag is fantastic too! And the buttons are awesome

The decoupaged tin is so cool- Ill have to start scrounging around for cool illustrations to make one for myself. And, using dictionary illustrations is such a neat idea for the magnets! Ill put an old dictionary on my must find list too! And, I love the fabrics used for the organelles on the plant cell tote bag! And the bird bath is too nice to let the birds use Wink

The UFO/Dino bag is a hoot! And X-files trading cards??? I never knew they existed so now Im totally jealous Wink  The alien stuffie is fab as well!

Love, love, love the test tube spice holders! And making them magnetic is genius! The barettes are so cute- my short curly hair wouldnt work with them, but if it was longer, Id totally be making a set for me! The skeleton leaf pendant is wonderful, too!

The tooth photo album and coin purse are so cute, and the little vase is so clever! The notecards are adorable, too! And, I have to agree, the blowfish is super sweet!

I am totally lovin this swap! I hope my package measures up (and arrives with contents intact!)

PurpleHeather and Kittyvanghoul- What excellent jars! I really like all of the little charms! And paper dolls- yay! And, the thimble is just too cute!
7603  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Science IS Art Swap! (SIGNUPS CLOSED! Sendouts by 5/7) on: May 09, 2008 03:40:56 PM
$75 in caterpillars slowly dying somewhere...makes me strangely sad...

That's part of the reason I was not really trusting of the whole mail order frogs thing.  I've been wanting one for so long and was considering ordering one online but I can't imagine the poor thing being shipped around and then possibly lost and then when it finally arrives I have to do emergency TLC to get it back to tip top shape.

Good luck, craftADDchick!

Thanks! And, the caterpillars made it to school today. Not too may dead ones, thankfully. But the jar with their food supply was cracked and leaking. In my classroom, I now have a tank with 4 dishes of food and all of the extra caterpillars...can't wait to see the changes!

Does anyone else find DC tracking incredibly un-helpful up until the item is actually delivered? It's now the 9th, and the DC for AlternaWidget's package says it's still in Wisconsin - as of the 7th. *smacks forehead*

...wait! It's a TIME TRAVELING BOX!

And, I agree about the tracking number- mine still says "Processed" from 2 days ago...

And, time traveling seems to be happening a lot this week. On Tuesday, my caterpillars, at 6:14 PM, were listed as being in Franklin, MA. But, a mere 2 minutes later, they left from somewhere in New Jersey!!!

Every time I heard the word "tumor," I just have to say in my best Ah-nuld impression, "It's not a tumor!" (From Kindergarten Cop), so I'd be chuckling to myself all day if I was wearing those barettes!

And, that Periodic Table blanket is awesome! I want one!!

Fantastic jars since I last checked in! Love the little gator finger puppet! And, so many other cute little things, too!

Man, oh man! I mailed my package on Monday, and it languished in the state of MA until yesterday. So much for the theory that Priority and Parcel Post go on the same truck Wink

This just isn't my week for packages, apparently! FedEx lost a shipment of Painted Lady caterpillars that were supposed to arrive yesterday. After the first batch arrived, with one set missing, I called Carolina Biological, only to have them tell me it left at a different time. FedEx said that it was on a truck with a guaranteed delivery by 4:30 (school ends at 3:30). I was in a meeting until 4:30, and they never got delivered. And this morning, when I called FedEx, the gal on the phone said she had no idea where the guy yesterday got the info. They put a tracking agent on the case, and when he called me and asked, "What's the life expectancy?" I almost reached into the phone and choked him...

Long story short...

A lost shipment of butterfly larvae, the run-around by FedEx and 23 disappointed 2nd graders has fried my brain...2 days of dealing with this problem...and still no caterpillars...

And the thought of sewing on 40 pieces of Velcro, well...not tonight...

But definitely tomorrow...

7608  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: I made a little bunny on: May 06, 2008 06:49:37 PM
He looks like he is hiding. Like bunnies do when they are scared. they sort of flatten out and pretend to hide. Oh and his eyes are definitely freaked. Wink
Very cute! great job!

When I first saw the picture of the bunny, it reminded me of the time I was cutting the grass and mowed over a depression in the lawn. When I pulled the mower back over the spot, I was shocked to see a couple of little bunnies tucked into the depression. They looked exactly like this one...except that they were brown. And terrified looking...

7609  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 2008 12" Squares ~ MAY on: May 06, 2008 06:40:28 PM
Nice squares, Horse Power! And, I like how the standard granny looks in all one color...kind of classes it up a bit Wink If I decide my afghan needs to be bigger, I may go with solid color granny squares- I can do them relatively quickly!
