7081  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: .:Days of the Week Undies Gallery:. on: September 14, 2008 07:24:03 PM
they are great! Now I want to try it! And think, all that worrying for nothing...  Cheesy

Thanks! And that just goes to show you that worrying works Wink

Those are some of the coolest undies ever! I love them!! What a cool idea to paint them first and then dye them. I would have never thought of that. Was it hard to paint white on white?

And, thanks! I used freezer paper stencils to paint them, so it wasn't hard at all. And, the undies weren't a "perfect" white, so the images showed up a bit before I dyed them.

I used the Jacquard (I think that's how it's spelled) tie-dye kit to make them. Turns out that the hardest part was wrapping all of the elastics on and then cutting them off afterwards!

I'm posting pics- my partner wore her undies right away so they are probably in the wash Wink

I made a set of rainbow tie-dye undies. I stenciled the days on the back side and put a simple graphic on the front- I tried to find 70's style images, if possible. Because I wanted white lettering and images on the dyed undies, and because I knew that with tie-dye there are white areas, I needed to make sure that I had solid areas of color. So, I did the stenciling first. I was very worried that the soda ash that you need to soak things in would eat away the fabric paint, or that the fabric paint would dye heavily and the images and letters wouldn't be clear. The white paint did pick up a bit of color, but it looks pretty cool, so that's okay!!

I really am happy with how they came out and am glad that I made a practice set (w/cami) so I have something to keep Wink

The cat and dog paintings are great! They're so cute, too!

I'll be sure to post pics once I get to it. My project list grows exponentially with every hour I spend on Craftster... Not that I mind Wink
7085  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 50+ Wash Cloths-along on: September 13, 2008 05:05:09 AM
I tend to use the Double Crochet for fast scarves n such, makes a bigger stitch, so it takes up less time:) Edges don't look as nice though...

How about crocheting around the outside when done?  You've those amazing crochet edgings Kyreth has done on her knit cloths in the knit cloth a long.  Though my idea of a crochet edging right now for me is single crochet once all the way around. Wink
Yeah, I've started to do more edgings. The look nice and you can't tell that you've had to increase or decrease a couple times Wink

That's one of the things I hope I learn in the beginner crochet class. I have a very hard time making the edging/border look neat! Which reminds me... I really need to sign up for that class!

Thank you so much kaleesi!  Cheesy

craftADDchick it's easy! Roll the clay, cut a circle, poke a hole.  Cheesy

Well, then I guess I'll have to give it a go, then! I also love your chocolate necklace and the pink one in one of your other posts! Imitation is a sincere form of flattery, so I may attempt to imitate those, too! Wink
