7001  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Tree Swap - COMPLETE! on: October 07, 2008 03:52:35 PM
Okay, I've been mostly avoiding the swap board, but you kind of sucked me in with your lovely tree photos!

I just sent in my questionnaire, and I'm glad I signed up late, because now I don't have to wait long for partners Wink

I think I am going to make a set of jewelry out of some beaded beads (make sense?) that remind me of winter.  They are a really pretty pearl white and pearly blue.  Would anyone be interested in that?

Me, me!  Wink
7003  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 50+ Wash Cloths-along on: October 05, 2008 08:02:15 PM
Yeah, I just kind of went with it and did official decreases two stitches in on each side every 4th row until I got the white.  I just kind of played by ear.  Any other "decreases" are "natural decreases". Wink

Well, if it's one thing I can do, it's make "natural decreases" Wink  I might chart it out and see how it goes...

For those not in dishcloth swap, I posted my crochet cloth in the completed projects because I love it.

And it is worthy of love! It's so cute! Did you make up the pattern yourself? I may have to pick up some orange and yellow cotton yarn tomorrow...

Hmmm...how many....I would say a set of 4 or 6 should equal a medium.

I was thinking of making 6, so I'm glad you came up with the same number! Wink

Thanks! I'll be working on them next weekend!

And, goldfishpollywog, all of those ideas sound great! I'd get the most use out of candleholders or mittens, though.

Very nice sugaree! I love the color of them!

You know, PhoenixFireDesigns, a winter Tree of Life pendant would be just stunning!!! (hint, hint, hint Grin)

That's a great idea! I would love one of those Wink

And, I'm planning to make some of these:

How many do you think would be a fair amount for this swap? They will be all the same design...
7008  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: The Long Awaited Poppet-Along on: October 04, 2008 08:01:47 PM
If you get the clear safety eyes, you can use nail polish to color the eyes, just make sure to seal it with clearcoat.
That way, you get lots of color options. Like, a layer of clear with glitter, a layer of dark blue, then a layer of clear.
Sparkly blue eyes!
That's the way I've done it, works pretty good.
me too. The last two i made I used nail polish on clear eyes. They didn't photograph very well but the Nial polish actually had a glittery sheen to it. Smiley

I had read in here about folks re-painting the eyes, and I was all set to scrape away the brown... until I realized that it was a molded piece of brown plastic...

The one I'm working on is brown, so brown eyes are good for now. But, I think I'll be breaking down and visiting Suncatcher Eyes online soon... Wink
7009  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: Goldfish in a Bag Tutorial (with pics) on: October 04, 2008 02:50:56 PM
Thanks so much for this tutorial! I've wanted to try this, but couldn't figure out how to get the fish to "float" in the soap.

I'm a bit stumped on the bags, though- I don't want to have a ton of them on hand...wonder if I could get some from my local pet shop/aquarium supply store? And then I could give them some finished soaps as a thank you!!
7010  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Completed Projects / Re: Card woven band on: October 04, 2008 02:07:09 PM
Card Weaving on an Inkle loom?  What an awesome idea!!  I would imagine that it was much easier to keep the tension consistent!!

I agree! I've wanted to try card weaving, but was worried about the tension. Now, I may have to figure out how to build that inkle loom I've always wanted!
