6821  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Tree Swap - COMPLETE! on: October 13, 2008 06:39:03 PM
Ooooh! Fabulous fabrics! Perhaps when I have to take a personal day, I can take a drive out there and get some... too bad it'll be after this swap is over!!
6822  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: The Long Awaited Poppet-Along on: October 13, 2008 06:36:59 PM
I bought some butter suede in the lovliest light blue.  I am going to make a bunny out of it.  Boy, I haven't made a poppet in awhile.

I'm working on the hair for my poppet, and because she has a short style, I'm finding that I need many more lengths of weft than when I did a long haired poppet! The long hair covered up the gaps between the wefts, but the short hair doesn't. I started putting them pretty close together, but I still might have gaps... grrrr... I'll just have to fluff her hair out to the max! Wink

I would have done craft fur for any short styles.

That's a good idea! But, I was in the boonies of NH and had to use what I had... a brushed acrylic yarn. It's the perfect color, and it looks great so far, it's just taking forever Tongue

So, I thought I wasn't going to get a chance to do this one, but I am! So excited!

Yay! And, if it fills early, we'll get partners early... right? I can't wait to find out who my partner is and what themes I'll have to work with...

6825  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Head Pin Pendants on: October 13, 2008 03:22:54 PM

craftADDchick - The blue and red ones are designed to hang down so they don't really need anything, the purple ones are bunched close together so there is no room for them to slide down.

Ah! That makes sense! Thanks!

These are cool! How do you get the beads to stay on the head pins on the ones without the crimps?

Okay, only a few days into the swap and I already broke my rule of "must make it from things I have on hand!" Well, I did have this supply on hand, but I came across one that was perfect for what I wanted... so I just had to get it. And now, I just need to figure out the best way to use it...

... and I think I just had a brainstorm... maybe...

These sound so yummy (and your photography skills make them look even better than yummy!) and I don't even like refried beans! Thanks, craftewoman, for posting the recipe! Sounds simple enough...

Thanks so much for sharing the tutorial and template! I'm going to have to dig out some orange and green cardstock... and then hit the dollar store for the tealights Wink

Thanks for the reassurances, folks! It was making me nervous that the hole in the center didn't look nice and tight like in the picture...
