6771  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Little Odd-ball Yarn Swap - Round 2 (SIGN-UPS CLOSED) on: October 24, 2008 04:39:25 PM
Hey there! I just finished up the Granny's Daughter's Swap and I'll be starting another round for after the holidays. But, in the meantime, since I used up many of my Little Odd Balls to make the Granny's Daughters, I figured I'd start another Little Odd Ball Swap.

Check it out here:
https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=275293.0

And, it'd be great if you could join!

Granny's Daughters! This site has a link to directions for how to make them, and an example of an afghan made with them: http://www.paulascharity.com/Home/index.html  And, here is a link for how to join them all together: http://www.quilt.com/Crochet/GrannysDaughter/AssembleMotifs.html
Finger Puppets! There are some adorable ones here, along with a tutorial. Not much yarn needed, either! https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=250419.0
Amigurumi! There are so many wonderful examples on Craftster, I can't pick just one. But, if you search Amigurumi, you'll find tons of examples!
Crocheted Flowers! Here's a lovely post for sakura flowers: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=178180.0 And another: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=185127.0  Here's a different style of flower on this headband: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=160533.0 And here is a lovely daffodil: http://crochetme.com/patterns/daffodils-spring
Rapunzel scarves! A couple of fabulous ones made out of mostly worsted weight yarn and they are really beautiful: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=275205.0 (Thanks for the link, myklia!)

I'll post some links as I find them, and I'll add any other suggestions to the list!

Hmmm... maybe I'll set it up and post links here, and in the last 2 rounds of the swap... Maybe we could even drum up some more swappers for the next round of this swap!

That snowman is adorable! I need some winter love for my desk at school...

And, angeltreats, can't wait to see the reindeer, but now I'm even more curious about the essay question Wink I grew up in an area with a large Portuguese community, but didn't learn much Portuguese. Now, I have Brazilian students, and I wish I had learned something besides Thank you, hot, cold, and the names of dishes and cutlery (I worked in a restaurant that had a crew of Brazilian dishwashers) Wink

i haven't participated in the past either, but i'm assuming it's like a scrap swap where you send ppl small balls of yarn, not full skeins, and they send you theirs. not unlike the scrap fabric swaps or the supply swaps.

That's pretty much it! In the last round, we sent ten 10-yard balls of yarn to either one, two or three partners. It's a super fast and easy swap! I originally signed up for just one partner, but when I realized how easy it was, I increased to three. It was pretty fun, actually!

Do you think I could just start the swap thread, or do I have to have an discussion thread first?
6778  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Granny Daughters Swap Gallery on: October 23, 2008 06:12:06 PM
I was thinking too how great a yarn ball swap would be! maybe we should rally for one. Smiley

Maybe we could sneak one in before the holidays, so we can do Granny's Daughters after the holidays...

Do I need to start a thread in the swap ideas board? Maybe I can do that tomorrow...
6779  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Granny Daughters Swap Gallery on: October 23, 2008 05:00:19 PM
Wow! I guess I sent more colors than I realized. And, now that I see them laid out like that, they all kind of go together (except for that greenish one in the front row Wink ).

And, Linda P, did I miss another Odd Ball Yarn Swap? I so would have done that to get even more colors... I wonder if there will be another one before I start up the next round of this swap?
6780  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Undies Swap - My Fave Themes .:CLOSED:. on: October 23, 2008 04:55:24 PM
I still haven't opened the package with my partner's undies, but I'll be doing that in a few minutes. Then, I can see how some of the ideas I have will play out...
