381  Re: 50+ Wash Cloths-along in Crochetalongs by craftADDchick on: July 09, 2010 01:25:04 PM
I've got 3 more! These are actually blocks from 200 Crochet Blocks (I'm doing this year's CAL), but I didn't want to use them in my motif blanket, so I made them in cotton to use as dishcloths instead (they'll actually be part of a gift). I used leftover yarn from an Inga bag I made (just a bit of end-weaving and a lining and it'll be finished).

Left to right: Granny Stripes (with an extra set of stripes in the middle), Four Squares (with an added border) and Bobble Stripes. I still need to weave in the ends on these, but I have over a month to do it Wink

So, I've made it past the halfway mark! Yay! We won't talk about how long it's taken me to get this far... Grin

Here are my pictures! They're not the best and I couldn't crop them since my other computer is temporarily (I hope) fried and my photo editor is on there. But at least I've finally got photos Wink

First, the ones I did in cotton: Granny Stripes, Four Squares and Bobble Stripes. I added an extra 2 rows in the middle of the Granny Sttipes and a border around the Four Squares. All 3 will be used as dishcloths.

This one is Edwardian Fancy. I had yarn in colors similar  to what she used in the book (except for the green, so I picked it up at the store), so I figured I might as well use them.

And, finally, here's Marigold. I didn't have enough of the orange or yellow to do the 3rd round of petals but, after I picked up another color of orange at the store, I decided to alternate the yellow and orange that I did have to do the outer round of petals (I carried each color around an picked it up as I needed it). Not only did I have enough for each color, I still have a little bit left of each!

I still have to weave in the ends on all of these, but at least they're stitched Grin

383  Re: 2010 12" Squares CAL- July in Crochetalongs by craftADDchick on: June 29, 2010 05:56:50 PM
Here's the July square! It's the Shell Around Square by Dayna Audirsch. There are a couple of minor pattern notes/corrections that I've listed in the first post.

This is a neat looking square! I really had to pay attention on Rounds 6 & 7 to make sure I didn't lose my place, but everything worked out without a hitch. She gives directions for some special stitches on the first page of the pattern (her V-stitch is a bit different than others that I've done, but you'll see why when you do Round 12... which gives the block a very cool textural element!), but it's pretty straightforward throughout. Round 12 may give you pause, but the directions are pretty clear (but holler if you need help understanding it!).

I used a K hook and my block came out to be exactly 12 inches!

ETA: Okay, I totally have vacationitis... I thought today was the 30th! Oops! Well, I'm super busy tomorrow, so I suppose it was meant to be! Wink

384  Re: ACTIVE: Granny-A-Day for JUNE - 6/1/10-6/30/10 in Crochetalongs by craftADDchick on: June 12, 2010 10:12:03 AM
Here are my squares!

The colors don't show very well (at least in the thumbnails), but they are brown, pink, purple and dark green. As I was taking the pictures, I noticed that the green ones were a smidgen smaller than the rest, but they are going to be the ones along the top edge, so I don't think it'll be a big deal.

Off to start the laundry (and maybe I'll even run the dishwasher, too- then I'll really be multi-tasking Wink ) and weave in tails!

Here are my Gothic Square and Briar Rose blocks! I only did the center portion of the Briar Rose because I thought it'd look better in my motif blanket. Now, I just have to get the book from the library and do May (and June).

Here's the June block! It's Big June Square and it makes use of bpdc to give it a neat texture.

There are a couple of pattern corrections, and if you're like me and need to see the whole pattern written out, I've added some directions for Rounds 8-12. I didn't need to do Round 12, but I'm using a K hook, which is bigger than the pattern calls for.

I've got 3 more made plus a dish scrubbie! I made them for the dishalicious dishcloth swap.

This is the Zipper Square:

This is the Chain Stitch Facecloth:

This is my own pattern based on the Fibonacci Sequence. It's basically just rows of single crochet in a pattern of 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13.

And then I made a tulle dish scrubbie, which doesn't count towards my total...

So now, my total is 24! Yay!

388  Re: Dishalicious Dishcloth/Washcloth Swap Rd 10 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by craftADDchick on: May 13, 2010 06:42:15 PM
I received from Vdbonnett! And they are awesome! I definitely can't pick a favorite, that's for sure!

This first one has such a great stitch pattern; if I made a larger version, it'd make a great blanket.

The next one has a lovely nubby texture that doesn't show well in the photo, and because of the variegated yarn, it has a cool design in it, too! Grin

And finally, one that is almost too lovely to use! It looks like a flower!

Thanks, Victoria! And thanks again, Sejimara, for organizing!

PS Vdbonnett included the pattern links in her note, but I can't find it in my pile of mail. Once I dig it out tomorrow night, I'll post the info for anyone who is interested Wink

koalascout, that's a great array of colors! You've got some especially nice variegateds in there. I'm thinking my next batch of GDs will have to be a variegated mish-mash...

myklia, I like how you've done the next round. It sets off the GD center nicely!

And, here are my awesome GDs from MiLady! They managed to escape the clutches of the volcano and arrived rather quickly. And, she sent me some Kinder Surprise eggs (and some Cadbury chocolates, too), which I totally love, but can't get here in the US. So, extra thanks for those!

Most of the solids will end up in my GD blanket, while the rest will end up in the scarf. My joining of the GDS project is slowly moving up the to-do list Wink

Thanks a bunch, MiLady, and thanks again, myklia, for organizing!

390  Re: ACTIVE: Granny-A-Day Crochet-Along MAY! in Crochetalongs by craftADDchick on: May 02, 2010 04:36:12 PM
Here are my May 1st & 2nd squares! I'm going to make an Inga bag with them. They're made with brown Lion Brand cotton and I used an E hook (which is in the picture). I don't think my bag will be very big, but I didn't feel like doing 7 rounds. And, I made them with one color because I didn't want to weave in extra ends. So, I guess I should dub this the Lazy Inga Bag Wink
