So, I'm trying out MagKnit's Minimalist Funnel Neck
as my first sweater, and and I managed to get through the yoke shaping with no problems. However, I am to the point where I have to put the sleeves onto waste yarn, and the pattern just seems flat out wrong.
At the beginning of the pattern it says:
"Work 9 (11, 15, 15) sts for back, pm (first kind); work 5 sts, pm (second kind); work 3 (3, 3, 5) sts for left shoulder, pm (second kind); work 5 sts, pm (first kind); work 9 (11, 15, 15) sts for front, pm (first kind); work 5 sts, pm; work 3 (3, 3, 5) sts for right shoulder, pm (second kind); work 5 sts, pm."
So, clearly, you are working in this order:
1. back stitches
2. decorative raglan stitches
3. left sleeve
4. decorative raglan
6. decorative raglan
7. right sleeve
8. decorative raglan
However, after the yoke shaping, the pattern says:
"Removing all markers except the one marking beginning of round, work 3 sts, place foll 35 (39, 39, 45) sts on waste yarn for left sleeve, CO 5 (5, 7, 7) sts, work foll 55 (61, 65, 73) sts, place foll 35 (39, 39, 45) sts on waste yarn for right sleeve, CO 5 (5, 7, 7) sts, work the remaining 55 (61, 65, 73) sts in pattern."
What the... ? Why would you work 3 stitches, then put the left sleeve onto waste yarn? This section is completely out of order. Not to mention that the number of stitches doesn't add up. I'm supposed to have 180 for the small, but this section adds up to 193! Unless of course, CO means Cast On in this case, but I assumed it meant Cast Off.
Anyway, I would seriously like some help with this pattern because it's my first sweater and I can't visualize/fudge what the pattern's supposed to be doing. TIA!
