So, of course I had to try one of the recipes right away, and here is the final picture, of the Guiness cake.
Is that Guiness as in the BEER?....Guiness is my favorite...next to Murphy's...Could I beg (ever so sweetly) for you to post this recipe?...
Yes as in beer!
1 C guiness Topping:
1 stick + 2 Tbls. butter 8oz. cream cheese
3/4 C unsweetened cocoa 1 1/4 C confectioners sugar
2 C sugar 1/2 C heavy Cream
3/4 C sour cream
1 Tbls vanilla
2 C flour
2 1/2 tsp baking soda
Heat oven to 350 and butter 9" springform
Pour guiness and butter (cut up) into saucepan and heat until butter melts, remove from heat. whisk in cocoa and sugar. In a seperate bowl whip sour cream eggs and vanilla together and pour into beer mixture. whisk in flour and baking soda.
Pour batter into pan and bake 45 mins to 1 hour.(closer to an hour usually for me) This will be a very damp cake!
Let cake get completely cold before topping. Lightly whip cream cheese til smooth, sift in confectioners sugar and beat (you can do this in a food processor) Add cream and beat again until spreadable. Ice only the top of the cake so it looks like a frothy pint!
