1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Alternative to plastic produce bags? on: April 03, 2008 07:34:28 AM
I buy a lot of produce at the grocery in the winter, and would like an alternative to the clear plastic bags you put the produce in. I like keeping produce organized, and I don't want something that weighs much. My husband hates it when I put produce in my cart, then on the belt and scale to be handled by the cashier.  If anyone has some great ideas please let me know!
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / How about a "Stuff my kid's Easter Basket" swap? on: January 16, 2008 12:07:04 PM
I have never done a swap before, but thought that this would be really fun.  I like the idea of my daughter getting handmade Easter gifts from the Bunny and possibly items that may not be available in my area of the US.  Just an idea! I suppose you could do this for adults too being as we mom's (and dad's) usually have to stuff our own baskets (if we are lucky enough to get one).
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Baby Hair Clips/Berets on: March 28, 2007 06:23:08 AM
My two month old was born with a head full of hair, now it is almost in her eyes and I want some cute clips or berets for her hair. Any ideas? I have heard of using velcro and I thought of glueing bows to it. Here are some cute ones I saw, but way overpriced:

Any ideas where to get maybe little baby clips to decorate? Or even just cheaper already made clips? I can't seem to find any anywhere.
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / gardener tool bag on: October 14, 2006 03:30:41 PM
So for Christmas, I want to make my mom a really kick-ass tool bag for her gardening supplies.  I have seen some really tiny ones at hardware stores, and was wondering if anyone had any excellent ideas or patterns.  I was going to look for some thick canvas bags/denim at local thrift stores for material. I want it to be super organized/functional and easy to carry. I want to make it very feminine.  I was thinking of filling it with tools that have pretty ribbons or decoupaged handles. If anyone has awesome ideas, I would be enthralled!

5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / The Bride's Tree on: October 02, 2006 07:41:31 AM
I saw this beautiful ornament collection:

I thought it would make an awesome gift for newlyweds... Does anyone have any ideas on how to make ornaments corresponding with this theme? I was considering using Sculpey Clay... I have also seen cross stitch patterns for them, but do not really want cross stitch ornaments.  Any ideas would be great.
6  UNITED STATES / Washington, D.C. / DC Craftster, looking for others on: September 11, 2006 07:58:21 PM
So I don't know if anyone has started a DC craft group of anytype, but I would love to be a part of one/help start one. I am really interested in learning new crafts/teaching things I know. I really want to knit/crochet, but am desperate for a mentor... my "knitting made easy" guide just doesn't do it for me.  I love exchanging ideas, etc. Let me know if anyone is interested. THanks!

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / The 2nd Cutest Diaper Bag Ever!! on: September 11, 2006 08:47:03 AM
So my pictures aren't THE BEST... but it is a courderoy, messenger style bag, that looks better when it is full. More accessories to come.

Inside has pockets that you can't see that well:

Accessory Bags:

My Baby Comforter:

Cute Material!!:

As you can see, we are going with a forest animal theme. Any great ideas would be appretiated. There is also a changing pad, not pictured that velcros to the outside of the bag.
8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Baby Bouquet on: August 30, 2006 08:08:37 AM
So I was thinking of making a bouquet similar to this one for the 4 women at my work who are having babies:

Any ideas on how to put it together? I haven't bought any supplies yet, but would you think the leaves are fake flower leaves? I am considering cutting out some felt leaves with pinking shears. I figure that it will be a little bit of trial and error.
I work at an animal hospital so I was also thinking of including some felt cat and dog stuffies and maybe make some iron-on sayings with my printer or with the iron-on crayons (appropriate for baby) that read, "my mom saves animals" "my mom helps sick puppies" "I love puppies/kitties". I might include some bibs/burp cloths made with cat and dog material. Any other great ideas? I am trying to keep this inexpensive, but completely unique and lovable. I was also trying to think of an animal-themed gift for mom maybe. Any ideas/suggestions would be great! Thanks!

9  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Husky fur?? on: August 23, 2006 09:12:54 PM
So I know absolutely nothing about felting but I love everyone's creations!  I have had my house plagued by soft fuzzy Siberian Husky fur and was curious if anyone has tried to make felt out of such a substance? I brush bags of fur off of my dog every day for like 2 months out of the year so I was wondering if anyone recommends any books for beginners about felting and or dyeing fur. I have read the wet felting tutorials, but would take any extra info/advice! Thanks.
