11  Retro Butterick 5032 1952 Dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by TeaCouture on: October 11, 2009 02:11:54 PM
A friend of mine recently got married and she asked me to make my own bridesmaid dress. After a lengthy email illmination we both decided Butterick 5032 was just the ticket for my dress. I wanted a fitted bodice top and fairly full skirt. Little did we know that the full skirt is actually a seperate piece- no matter options are good.

Here's the pattern envelope picture: We had both decided the black dress was the final look we wanted but time got away from me and I ended up making hte yellow version with out the belt.



And some finished pictures of the dress at the wedding.

I'll eventually wear all the pieces so as I get more pics I'll update this post. Thanks for looking and comments are always welcome

Green for sure... I have blue eyes and hair colored using henna and I love wearing green- it's my fav color combo...

Here is an example with the henna.



This pic is using a regular hair color from a salon.

These are my first attepemts at hair falls. I didn't have time to do anything with wool or felting to make actual dreads. So I found a few tutorials on how to make them with yarn. I'm really diggin these. Just wish I had gotten more Burning Man action shots with the dreads on.

My aunt had some really great cupcake fabric and she wanted to make aprons for herself and her daughter. So we swapped fabric bits and this is what I came away with.

I'm not sure if I should admit this came from my brain on a whim... but it did and I heart him! A friend of mine is an interior designer and they regularly throw out fabric samples as fabrics are no longer carried... As I can I try to figure out things to make out of them... this is one such thing.

So I had a few thrift store leather jackets laying around from some costuming stuff I did last year. After looking through some flickr photo's I got the urge to make a cuff.

It just so happened that one of the jackets had a snap closure at the end of the sleeve so I cut the cuff off cut it into 2 pieces then re-sewed them back together so it would fit my freakishly small wrist.

From there I added a selvedge ruffle and a few extra bits of leather. And this is what it ended up looking like.
