6114  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Re: Picking Partners in Group Swaps on: February 14, 2008 05:46:30 PM
Thank your for your input auntiem and sweets4ever.  Smiley

I've been in a total of 4 swaps now, and I've read through many of the swap threads. Seeing people ask for a specific partner in swaps that are not pick your own just seems clickish somehow.

For the example you give sweets I could understand the request, but if the organizer does not honor the request that could bring all sorts of problems, too.

Maybe it should be something that is listed in the sign up that it is at the discretion of the organizer? Just to avoid any hard feelings.
6115  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Picking Partners in Group Swaps on: February 14, 2008 02:29:52 PM
Sometimes people request to be partnered with certain members, so they know in advance who their partner will be.  Other times, it might be a realllly general craft that will be customized to their particular partner later (for example, making a journal/book/recipe book/drawing book for the details/cover to be completed at a later date).

I started crafting before a swap once.  It was a photographer's swap and I knew I wanted to make a photo album as part of the package.  I started before the signups ended and then finished the details according to my partner.

Noticed this in your post sweets, and recalled it when I had this question come up. Hope you don't mind me using it from a different swap question topic. Smiley

Presently I'm in 3 swaps, two of which are going to be wrapping up this week with group sendouts.

While pa rousing the swaps I see people requesting certain partners, and I don't think this should be done.

If you just want to swap with certain people then do personal swaps, but to me the whole point of doing group swaps is to have the organizer give you the partner. If you keep swapping with the same people in all your swaps to me that would get boring.

On another note from an organizer stand point (though I've only been a co-organizer), it would be easier to partner if you don't have to fill partner requests first.

What is everyone else's thoughts on picking partners in group swaps?
