1  Re: Baby Nursery Stuff in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by hammycakes on: July 18, 2007 10:10:32 AM
Those projects came out just beautifully. I also like your idea of using the bias tape instead of fabric ties, what a PITA to cut, sew and turn 48 of those suckers! I was thinking of using ribbon instead.. here is what I have so far:
crib skirt ( sitting on my slipcovered chaise lounge)
unfinished bumpers
store bought pillow

I have til Oct. to finish. What else are you doing in your nursery?

2  Faux and Free Anthropologie Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by hammycakes on: June 11, 2007 12:12:33 PM
Alright y'all I saw this bag http://www.anthropologie.com/jump.jsp?itemID=15216&itemType=PRODUCT&iSubCat=354&iMainCat=336
on the anthropologie website and fell in love with it... However #1 I couldn't see paying for it #2 it was REALLY gigantic and #3 I'm always trying to reduce my stash of stuff- so here is what I came up with.

inside ( not done stitching in the lining yet because my machine must be on vacation or something..

and detail of top/handles

The differences are that mine is only about 3/4 of the size and the brown is a soft heavy weight felt, not leather.
Anyway, I felt it came out pretty nice especially for winging it w/out a pattern- and then when I actually saw the real thing in the store I was pretty amazed at how close my version came out.
If only all my projects came out this well! Total cost: $3.16 for brown zipper.

3  Re: Baby/Kid Stuff Swap (Round 5) in The Swap Gallery by hammycakes on: June 10, 2007 06:12:02 PM
Ok. I had just readied this lovely post with pics and something bad happened. So here we go again!

I recieved the lovely package from Babyskilz today after being out of town this weekend. In it were:
For older dd:
A cool storage system. It has little containers that velcro onto a backboard that mounts to the wall and the tops are painted with chalk paint so they can be labeled. A great place for all her little things that would other wise get lost! She has already labeled all the tops and stuffed them full of things.
excuse dh acting like a nut in the background..
A gorgeous multi color crocheted kerchief and knitted ipod cozy

and a cool macrame headband made from hemp or jute

For little miss priss, the best made pair of fairy wings I"ve seen for a long time. They seem very sturdy and dd2 even commented that they were nicer and better than the ones from the store.
She also got a matching flower crown and some little felt barrettes!

All the stuff was so nice and well made! This was my first swap and I can't wait to do another!
Thanks so much BabySkilz for all your beautiful work- I hope you like your things as much as we do!

(also thanks MM79 for organizing, it was fun!)
