721  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Re: strawberry fields on: May 29, 2008 02:15:24 PM
Okay, I have to say it...I am jealous x 1,000 that you can do glassblowing. I have always wanted to learn. Those berries look good enough to eat! Great job.

I am finally pinning down exactly what I want to make. I had a list long enough for three swaps and had to pick my absolute top faves. I am excited though, because I am goig to be venturing into unknow territory for me...trying the same old media in new fun ways. Woot for experimentation!

Nice butterflies! And I am so glad to see other people were wowed by the curtain thing too. The ladies at work just said, "Oh, that is SO something you would like!" I'm sure some of you are familiar with the tone that was used.
725  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Making a cloth basket (w/link to pic) on: May 17, 2008 05:22:12 AM
So I am in love with this basket and I was wondering if anyone has made anything like it ever?

http://www.rice.dk/produit.php3?id_mot=1&id_produit=12315

It looks pretty easy, like coils of heavy cotton rope wrapped in fabric and stitched together. But before I put in the time and energy, I want to know if anyone has any tips or advice so it turns out good and sturdy.

Thanks!

727  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: fill a purse round 3 gallery on: May 03, 2008 10:35:58 AM
I got my purse yesterday, and it rocks. It is definately the biggest purse I now own. Here it is with my cell phone for scale. It came with a tic tac cozy, lip balm cozy, sour straws (devoured already), and 2 little matching drawstring pouches. There is a zipper (awesome) and an exterior and interior pocket.

The fabrics are the perfect colors! Brown with a very mellow pattern and some very rich stripes. Here is a closeup of the cloth, as well as the 2 cozies, filled with goodies!

DisneyBelle, you rock! I already used it yesterday. It fits 4 books, all my purse stuff, my camera and lunch, with a TON of room to spare. I love it, thanks.

Okay, this lady called Michelle Brand found a use for lots and lots of soda bottles. Room divider! Read about it here:

I am FINALLY posting pictures since I managed to bring my camera to work. Here is the purse I sent to Disney Belle. It is in her fave colors, with a paisly pattern on the inside (you can see that better in the second detail photo). Her extras were a matching wallet and mini pouch, a glass bracelet, fruit leather and granola.

The bracelet was inspired by one on her wists. Even better, it was an excuse to buy beads.

I think mine is finally at my post office tonight, and I am sooo excited! I will post those pictures a.s.a.p.
730  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: kitchenaid cozy on: April 29, 2008 01:36:24 PM
My mom made herself and her mom a kitchenaid cozy with no pattern. She just drafted a pattern out of newsprint, taped it together amd put it over the mixer. Once she had all the pieces fitting right, she just added a seam allowance, cut fabric and assembled it.

If you are feeling more like using a premade pattern, this thread might help you.
