1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Placemats on: September 23, 2016 08:59:58 AM
I made some placemats:

They have a layer of wadding in the middle, and I used this method for the backing:

I didn't have enough of one fabric for the backing, so half are done with skulls and half with dragons, but I'm still really pleased with them!
2  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Han Solo Cosplay on: February 18, 2015 03:56:47 AM
I recently went to a convention, and a group of us decided that it was about time we did a Star Wars cosplay. So I decided that I would be Han Solo and my husband should be Leia.

You can see the stripes better in this one:

My husband is the one on the right!

Group Shot:

I made the waistcoat, trousers and holster from scratch, the shirt was one of my husbands. What you can't see is that I used some Star Wars fabric to line the waistcoat with too!

Thank you!

And it was his idea to do that costume! Unfortunately the zip broke, so I'm going to have to see if I can repair it as I'm sure we'll be doing this again sometime.

A group of my friends decided to do a Kill Bill costume theme for a convention recently. Unfortunately I didn't get many photos, but here are a few from some friends:

And a group shot:

This was a completely new experience for me - I really had no idea about kimonos or how to wear them, but I think it turned out pretty well in the end!

Oh, and the lovely blonde in the PVC catsuit is my darling husband  Wink

That is stunning, and it fits you perfectly. You are an inspiration!  Smiley
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Marvel-ous dress on: May 23, 2013 01:37:03 AM
Thanks for all the lovely comments!  Smiley

I got the fabric from J&O Fabrics: http://www.jandofabrics.com/

I'm very impressed with their service - it only took the fabric about a week to get to me in the UK from the US, and their shipping charges are very reasonable too.

A convention I went to recently had the Saturday night theme of Marvel vs DC, so I decided I needed to make myself a new dress:

And an action shot:

This is amazing! I love all the details you have put in to it, and your sewing is incredibly neat - that looks better than a lot of professionally made hoodies  Smiley
9  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Re: Steampunk Vampire on: October 16, 2012 01:31:39 AM
Thanks for all your lovely comments!

The front is closed using swing hooks, and the back has lacing loops. Here is a photo of the corset in progress which shows these:

I made this outfit for a Vampire Ball I went to. The skirt and jacket are from the Simplicity 2172 pattern, and the corset is from the Laughing Moon Dore pattern.
