1  Ideas for rakhis anyone? in Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions by MaraudingMuggle on: August 02, 2006 05:33:41 PM
Hello all!!

For those of you who are not Indian or just simply wondering, a rakhi is basically a sacred thread that a sister ties on her brother's wrist on Raksha Bandhan [ translates into " a bond of protection"]. Those wanting more info on this visit :

This year for Raksha Bandhan I wanted to make the rakhi for my brother [he's 10] because I have the time and would like to take the effort. But I'm facing a creativity stump because I want something a little different. Here are some pics of traditional rakhis [to give you an idea so you can give me ideas?]:

So as you can see , the possibilities are endless.

2  Box...should i bother with the details??...maybe in the post... in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by MaraudingMuggle on: August 01, 2006 06:31:32 PM
Hello all !
Yay!! All the magazine-y goodeness...This box I've made is a result of by *surpirse surprise* summer boredom and inspired by a project i've seen on the forums [no idea what though..if you are the author of it's inspiration, inform me and due credit will be given  Grin]. So anyway..it is comprised of *ta-da*rolled up magazine pages. Enjoy!! Here are some pics:

The box itself.

With the lid open:

A close-up [for some reason my mind insists on being banal]

And a pic of the left-overs..[...why?..i have no idea..i think it's something about holding a camera in my hand]

Thanks for looking!!
Comments and ideas of what else a bored girl with a glossy magazine can do are always welcome!!

3  Re: Dried chillies in What the heck can I do with THIS? by MaraudingMuggle on: July 31, 2006 03:33:11 PM
You could take a glass jar and layer the chillis with other items

Sorta like this except with chillis....

4  Safety pin bracelet in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by MaraudingMuggle on: July 28, 2006 09:50:44 AM
Inspiration for this bracelet came from the massive amounts of safety pin bracelets all over the internet but seeing as i didnt have any seed beads...i used the ones i had!

The bracelet started out pretty simple with huge beads on safety pins :

I later strung the all the pins onto some string and viola!!:

You cant see the effect on camera but the beads sorta look like they're in some wire-wrapping.

Thanks for looking!
Opinions are welcome!! Huh

5  Bangle bracelets [img heavy] in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by MaraudingMuggle on: July 28, 2006 08:10:58 AM
Ola my fellow crafters!!
This happens to be my first post on crafster!! Yay!!...So Excited!!! Grin
This whole bracelet thing began when i was inspired by the stuff i saw at the mall.... Roll Eyes
Here are some i found on the internet :

And here are the finished pieces :

This one is with a single strip of colorful fabric which i envision is worn for the day...

And this one i guess is sort of more evening-y

Both used only scraps of fabric i had from school projects along with a round piece from a pringles can and a plastic bag. Oh and loads of rubber cement too...

Tell me what you think!!
Thanks for looking!
