Anyways! I'm going to a party on Saturday (arriving at the kid's house at 5pm, and he lives a good 20 minutes away, so I need to be all good and done by 4:30pm), and I got a really cute dress at the local Goodwill for cheap (like $3 cheap). I thought it'd be cute to make all steampunk, y'know? This was a week and a half ago, mind.
Now, the party's nearly here, and I'm having... Issues. I've got all the clothing components (a dress, which I'll put a picture of/link to in here; a brown herringbone blazer that looks lovely with the dress; black thigh-highs; gold flats), but I have no accessories. Which is Bad, because nobody seems to have clocks or watches or anything, and Goodwill only had two clocks with plastic gears, and I can't find the watch I was thinking of using to get a few things.
Here's the extra twist: I have a budget of... $4, and I have tomorrow and Saturday morning left to do get materials, because I'm busy all Friday (school and then chorus stuff until about 9:30pm). I can work all three days, however, and even do it in school if it's possible to do without glue-guns and it's a small project.
What I have going in my favour is thus:
- My little brother will collect anything shiny, so I am going to ask him if he has any old-fashioned skeleton keys, as well as anything clockwork or chains or old-looking.
- I can knit pretty well, and have basic sewing skills, as well as 'throw it the f*** together' skills. I'm pretty creative when I want (or need) to be.
Help? (x-posted over to the knitting area)
It's actually as low or boob-push-up-y as it looks in the picture. It just slipped a bit. And I am aware that I need a strapless bra. Gonna ask the mumster to take me to get one tomorrow...
