21  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Apron style dress or top on: November 06, 2008 02:40:54 PM
I came up with a cute design to a new top, I am making a matching skirt and pants. The skirt/pants will have some cute trim to it and I will post those when I finish it up. I took my time making up this item today since I wanted it to be perfect! This fits my 1 year old toddler (size 2) as a nice dress, and the 3 year old toddler as a top. I will get pictures of them in it but they were not cooperating with pictures today lol.

I heart that tutorial that is the one I used when I made the cherry kimono top for Acadia. You did a great job!! I like the simple fabric and it will go with everything too.

Found a tutorial online for this and thought it was awesome!! It turned out great but I am going to change it up just a bit to be a bit more functional for my kids to carry around. I think it turned out pretty darn good for a first try. What do you think?

I drew out a half circle on the folded fabric no numbers exactly just random sized since she is smaller I did not want it flopping over into her face. it was about 19" when I measured straight down the middle of the circle. Then I cut out 1 thick strip of fabric that was folded in half again and then added in interfacing to the middle stitched it for extra durability. I used a gathering technique for the circle of the hat (I think vegbee has it posted on her blog), then I pinned the wrong sides of the bottom and top of the hat together but left just a bit open to sew the strip together and sealed the edges. Once I did the clothing of the bottom of the hat I then attached the top and bottom together and sealed the edges of that and tada chef hat! I hope that makes sense.
