I would try to find a wrap dress pattern you like, then just add on to one of the panels to do the pleating. I had to do a lot of alterations to get this pattern, so I think it would be kind of hard to do a tutorial where people would be making their own.

Thanks again. I'm glad everyone likes it. I haven't been around pregnant women that much so I wasn't sure about what features are needed, but I'm glad that I was able to come up with something appealing and wearable.

If anyone's interested I could make more with different fabrics or w/o pleats for non-maternity. I'm really poor (darn college tuition) right now so I need the work! hehe.

For my apparel construction 3 class, we had to make garments for different age groups. Out of the four (toddler, elementary, maternity, elderly) the maternity turned out to be my favorite.
I designed, drafted and sewed this dress. Too bad I'm not pregnant (JUST KIDDING!hah). Anyway here are the pictures

it can be tied in the front or back

pleats for the growing belly

17  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Beatles Decoupaged Lunchbox on: July 23, 2008 12:54:47 PM
thanks everyone! I'm glad I came up with something that can help those  (like me) who save everything cool (or everything in general!) just in case a project comes up!
Have fun with it and I would love to see what some more decoupaged lunchboxes.
18  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Beatles Decoupaged Lunchbox on: July 22, 2008 09:02:44 PM
This project was inspired by two items that I feel are totally different - a Beatles calendar and a tin lunchbox I bought in middle school. Sadly I do not have a before picture of the lunchbox, but let me tell you, it was horrible. It said "Princess of Everything" on it and was bright pink with a crown. I don't know what I was thinking when I spent $20 on it... The calendar was my boyfriends and when the year was over I couldn't let him discard it because of the great pictures.
After a few months I finally came upon both items and realized the lunchbox could be saved. I cut out my favorite pictures, then went to work cutting out little pieces of paper in different colors to make a border. Then I used one of my favorite products, Mod Podge, to attach the pictures and paper pieces to the lunchbox. A few hours later this was the result.

I'm really happy with how it turned out, and wish I had more lunchboxes like this to put pictures on.

I wasn't sure if this was the right forum, so mods feel free to move it if it needs to be somewhere else.

19  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Bento Swap 2 Gallery!! on: July 10, 2008 09:34:32 AM
I just received my package from anastrophe and I really like it!

Here's all the goodies (first the crafted items)

a cloth napkin decorated with flowers and a little bag to hold chopsticks

a lunch bag with pockets to hold the napkin

as you can see it fits my Lock & Lock perfectly (I normally keep the lid on, but I thought today's bento was cute  Cheesy)

and the store bought items - a snack sized box, cute cupcake cups, some small chopsticks, 6 triangle shaped silicone cups, and some awesome cutters for fruits/veggies, cookies or whatever!

thanks anastrophe!
She should be posting pictures soon, but if anyone wants to see what I made her now (or more bentos I've made) you can check out my blog www.krisaki.wordpress.com
*edited - opps I forgot about the new blog linking policy. click here if you want to go directly to the post with the bento goodies
