1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Zombie Sock Monkey on: January 05, 2010 10:31:45 PM
Andimo is the best crafty mom ever, cause she's mine! Zombonky is right at home with its buddy Dr. Monkhattan.

p.s. Zombonkey also came with a photo comic of its adventures with sock MonKang!

I am the lucky recipient of this brilliant and inspired act of craftiness. He even came with his own biographical photo-comic! I am so lucky to have a mom as nerdy as me! Love you!
3  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Watchmen Stenciled T-shirt: The Inversion of Natural Roles on: February 02, 2009 11:38:36 AM
Here are some pictures of a T-shirt I stenciled to give to my kid brother for Christmas. The image is taken (and revised somewhat) from a panel in the graphic novel Watchmen by Alan Moore. He introduced me to the book and now we're both pretty well obsessed.
Here is the final image:

And a picture of the process. I cut the stencils from 4 or 5 copies of the enlarged image (made on my computer scanner) covered in contact paper. To paint the shirt, I used Jaquard Neopaque fabric paint and some cheapo firm-bristled brush. At the end I went in with a tiny brush to add the stars and facial details.

Here's bro wearing it on Christmas morning:

And finally, this is the image I worked from:

Thanks for looking! If you love Watchmen too, check out what I got for Christmas from my mom, new member AndiMo! I am the luckiest! There was a theme this year, I guess Smiley

4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Favorite online sewing supply source? on: November 12, 2008 04:31:50 PM
Hi all! I have been having a hard time finding some more esoteric items at my local fabric stores, and am wondering if anyone knows of any great online stores that have large selections of notions/trims/elastic etc. Specifically I've been looking for patterned elastic and clips for suspenders.

That's a sweet image. Did you draw it?

Wow! your sweater looks great. I, too, had admired that pattern in IK. I assumed it wouldn't flatter, but it sure does. I'm making one.

I love the pictures on that wheel. Did the owner do them herself? Would you post closeup pictures?
Your yarn is great!
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: March Challenge: Scrooged! Knitting on the cheap on: March 25, 2007 12:23:18 AM
No worries! I'd read the rules, but it never hurts to ask.

Hi! I've got another question. I made a project with recycled yarn from a sweater I bought and unravelled at Goodwill for $5.99. I bought the sweater a while ago and lost the receipt, and since it wasn't bought as yarn proper, there's no "retail price." Can I still enter my project?
