21  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Cropped Jacket from KNIT1 Summmer 2006 on: June 11, 2006 01:51:05 PM
I believe it calls for Wool-Ease from Lion Brand.  (I don't know for sure though. I have a photo copy of the pattern and I am missing the first page of it with the yarn/gauge requirements.)  I am using *gasp* Red Heart "Soft" yarn for mine.  I, too, wasn't sure how the pattern would actually work up and so I was a bit leary of dropping a bunch of cash on yarn for this project and then have it be awful.

How's everyone coming?  I am working on the sleeves right now. (Why do sleeves take so LONG...!) Can't wait to see FOs.

Hi!  I'll join!  I started this a few weeks ago and I have everything done but the sleeves.  I am modifying them to be full length and to not fold over at the cuff.

I will tell you that I have found the pattern to be a bit vague and had to just guess on some parts, but not anything too terrible!  It knits up fairly quickly too.

I have some progress pics on my blog here:  knitticisms

(Also, I could have sworn that there was another KAL here on Craftster for this pattern, but I cannot for the life of me find it now!  Could I have dreamt it?)

Fun! I started this sweater last week and it is flying off the needles.  You can see some progress pics on my bloggy blog.

I cannot wait to finish this so I can wear it.  Plus, it is going to be great fun picking out some buttons.  Smiley

Aw, shucks.. Smiley  Thanks for all the sweet comments.  I love Craftster.

It did take quite awhile.  I started it in mid-January and I just finished it.  So about 4 months working on it off and on.  The stitch pattern kept my interest though and I was never bored knitting it, which is more than I can say for some of my other projects, like say the Hourglass Sweater from Last Minute Knitted Gifts.

I definitely encourage anyone to try it!  And the yarn cost was not bad either.  Around 40 bucks for all of it.  Gotta love Knit Picks.

Pattern: Belted Wrap Jacket from Interweave Knits Winter '05 Issue
Yarn: 17.5 skeins of Knit Pick's Merino Style in the 'Cinnamon' color

This project was touch and go towards the end, but the collar really made all the difference for me.  Plus, I LOVE the ribbed bell sleeves.

Merino Style is great stuff too.  I noticed that the yarn was thinner in some places, but it is super-soft and I didn't run into a knot in the 18 skeins I used for this project.  I will definitely use it again.

Thanks for looking!  More details on my blog.
26  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Knitty's Starsky Knit-A-Long? on: March 05, 2006 01:23:04 PM
OOOH...I am definitely joining once I finish up my current project.  I loved this sweater instantly.  I've been dreaming of a sweater just like this all winter long.

jax3303, I'm actually using the 'cinnamon' color of Knit Picks merino style for my current project.  It's less brown than I had expected it to be, more like a sienna color, but quite pretty.  You can see a good picture of it on my blog if you'd like to get a better idea of what the 'cinnamon' color really looks like.  It's hard to tell from the little picture on Knit Picks' site.

Yay!  It's lovely.

I think Starsky has 'knitalong' written all over it!  I'm totally up for that.

That has to my favorite pattern ever from Knitty.  MUST MAKE THIS.  Smiley

30  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Magnetic Clipboard? on: January 17, 2006 10:11:45 AM
Hullo craftsters!  I'm knitting up a sweater with a lacey pattern and this is the first time I've really had to follow a chart as I'm working.  As a result, I have a hankering for a magnetic clipboard with a ruler-thingie attached to it that I can slide up and down as I work the chart.

I found one at WEBS here: http://www.yarn.com/knitting/knitting6.html#magnetboards.  But before I rush out and order one, I thought I'd see if any of you knitters use something similar or have any recommendations?  I think this is the sort of thing that will make a cumbersome project much easier to handle.  Thoughts?
