2  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / spinning is hard on: December 16, 2007 02:16:04 PM
Ok so I just bought a bottom drop spindle off etsy and they sent some wool with it. I've been trying to spin it all day. I watched a video, I looked at books, look at sites.

I spin spin spin... sometimes its tight and sometimes it is loose which as a this is my first time I thought hey this is normal. But as soon as i take it off the spindle it completely unwinds itself. Even if i spin tight, i spin so tight that it has snapped but it still unwinds. I heard people heating it to keep the spin but I mean shouldn't it stay someone spin?
3  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / needle felting gone wrong. on: November 30, 2007 09:45:59 PM
I can needle felt wool on to something wet felting. I can needle felt yarn onto wet felting things...

but for the life of me I can create something solely from needle felting.

How long do I poke at the stuff with needles?

My first attempt at a flower:

Then i tried making another flower but it was turning out blah so I am trying to make it a heart.

I don't know what size felting needles I am using. They don't say and I didn't know  there were different size until I started reading around this forum.

Please help!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / two knitted hats on: November 29, 2007 11:43:46 PM
I knitted two hats. The same pattern but different yarn. It's a simple basic hat pattern.

This first one is knit with patons sws yarn in natural navy. I love this yarn.

this next one is knit using debbie mumms yarn tradition in pine needle green:

5  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Look ma I can felt! wet felting, jewelry on: May 29, 2007 10:35:53 PM
Hi guys. This is my first time posting a project I'd been admiring and complimenting everyones work for some time now. Awhile ago I visited a craft school and they had a fiber program. In the gallery I saw all these beautiful felted projects and I fell in love and said, "I WANT TO DO THAT!" So of course I came home and looked on craftster. I was so inspired by all of your wonderful things that I had to give it a try. I haven't done much yet and it's all been wet felting. (I did buy felting needles but heh silly me forgot to buy any foam!)

My first project was to make a wet felt bead. I turned it into a necklace.

A close up of it:

Then I decided to mix colors and make a beaded bracelet:

I loved the colors but I felt like the beads were too big and swallowed my wrist. So I made a bangle:

Do you guys have any tips, advice, opinions? I really want to make a wetfelt scarf but I'm too scared to try something that big yet.
