1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Bag made from denim mini skirt on: June 21, 2012 03:56:08 PM
I made this bag on request for a friend's daughter, from her mini skirt. The skirt was too short for her mothers liking! Wink

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Two of my recycled denim bags on: May 30, 2012 03:25:30 AM
I was lucky to get a big box of factory denim remnants and unfinished childrens jeans for free. There were a lot of partially

completed denim jeans and jackets. I love to recycle denim so this is what happened:
I combined two old jeans pockets to make one pocket with a flap.

I used Rae's buttercup pattern for this one and inserted a zipper and a strip of frayed denim between the back and front parts.

The embroidery was on a baby's jacket from the factory.

3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Scrappy Pioneer Braid quilt on: May 30, 2012 02:39:08 AM
I found this pattern in the Australia Patchwork and quilting magazine, Pioneer

Braid by Bev Darby in September 2005 issue. It was very difficult to match the

seams when joining the braided strips due to the one bias edge of the pattern

template. I really love the end result and if I make this pattern again will

just sew it onto a foundation fabric to prevent stretching.I used thick

batting and bought new flannel for the back, which makes the quilt super-soft

and warm. It is so cosy and warm under the quilt that I didn't need to use my

electric blanket so far this winter. The cat and the dog loves it too, I have

to compete with them to use my own quilt.

What makes this quilt extra special for me, is that my whole family helped to

tie the quilt, even the men! So a whole lot of love went into this quilt.

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Recycled denim buttercup bag on: May 07, 2012 04:39:12 AM
I used the cute buttercup pattern (madebyrae.blogspot.com) and made it from my daughter's old denim.  Also used the pockets and a piece of the waistband, though only for decorative purposes as I also inserted a zipper.  I enjoyed making it and can recommend the pattern - very easy and clearly written.

My daughter loves it and uses it everydag.
C&C welcome. Thanks for looking Cool
5  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / My monkeys. (all 6 of them!) on: January 05, 2011 02:21:16 PM
My daughter asked me to crochet a monkey as a gift for her friend's little girl.  I search for patterns on the internet and tried some, but I enjoyed it so much I could not stop. Now I'm suffering from a severe case of monkey-fever!
