1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Help! What foot do I need? on: April 08, 2006 06:01:03 PM
I have a sewing machine my mom got me, and I have only used it twice. I don't really know anything about sewing. When I moved (on one of the many), the foot came off, and now can't sew because I am missing a foot. I went to JoAnns and they were not helpful at all and told me they didn't carry a foot for that model and I would have to order it from somewhere.

I was going to look it up in my manual, but it seems it has gotten lost as well.

So I tried looking it up online, and I found the website and the charts with all the replacement parts to order. Now the only problem is I don't know which one I need. I just want a normal, basic foot, but I don't know which one is that since none of them are just called "basic" or anything, and since I don't have any experience with sewing, I don't know what it's supposed to look like. Can anyone help me?

I have a Singer, Model #3820
here is a link to a PDF file of the part charts:

EDIT: I was thinking it could be the "Zip Zap presser foot" that is #35 on pages 10 & 11. It seems to be the only one that is not with the rest of them, which are on pages 18 & 19.

If you see anything else on there that might be useful too, let me know and I can order it at the same time. I know I will be buying a new manual at the same time for sure.

Thanks for any help, I want to start sewing! Smiley
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / From vest to.....? on: April 06, 2006 03:37:15 PM
My husband has this vest he got from a camp he used to work at. It's probably 6 or 7 years old and we have been together 6 years and i have NEVER seen him wear it. I am always trying to get him to clean out his closet and get rid of clothes he never wears. He will not get rid of this because it's sentimental, which I totally understand, but I wish it was something he was getting some use out of. I asked him if he would mind if I reconstructed it into something he would use, and he said it would depend on what it was.

Here are some pics (excuse the cat hair):

This is a close-up of the embroidery (the basic part he wants to keep):

Any ideas of what this can be made into? The material is sort of fleece, but i'm not sure exactly what it is. I am not extremely experienced in sewing or anything, but any ideas are appreciated. Thanks! Smiley
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Etching question on: March 18, 2006 09:20:29 PM
I want to make dishes similar to these at Target:

My question is if I use the Armor Etch on them, will the frosted part come out white or will it just be a rougher surface/frosted sort of but still black? Huh

Thanks for any help, and I will make a post with pictures when I make them.  Smiley
