Hey gals!!
Had a very productive night cleaning up and sorting my beads and findings.  Yay!   I'll try posting my findings this weekend and see if there is any interest.

Also after seeing the awesome octopus necklace that was posted (and that I missed out on) I hunted down a couple of charms in silver plate on ebay and I just found out that I won the auction.  Smiley  Is there anyone that would want one in silver?  I might be able to spare one if my sis doesn't snag it.  Smiley

Selkie, I'm so sorry that you have to make such a hard decision.  One of my best friends has a child who is borderline autistic and it is so heartwrenching watching them all suffer.  My heart goes out to you and your family.

I am loving all the new goodies.  I need to get motivated to make something new too.
Tonite I'll be going thru my stash to see if I have any jewelry bits worth offering up.  Smiley

Hope Owen feels better soon LL.  You're a cool mom helping him find gross things.  Maggots sound icky, but fun!

Great ideas!!  I hope there will be some crocheters/knitters that join up.  I make tons of felt food and would like something crafted another way.

Hehe, you're right about having too much stuff IamSusie.  We try to get around this by getting things that we need and use up all the time (clothes, shoes) or by getting something at the high end (camera, Ipods).  My siblings and I are grown and can all afford things on our own, but we kinda use Christmas as an excuse to treat each other to things we want and haven't gotten around to getting yet.

As for the gift cards I am torn.  I don't believe in them in general, but after receiving many thoughtless gifts from my hubby's parents I kinda wish they did.  For my daughter's first birthday they sent her a rather cheap looking doll in a moldy box (not joking and I know my molds) and they have the means to have a house built and get a new car every other year so it wasn't a financial thing.  I was beyond angry at their thoughtlessness.  My mom told me that it would have been better if they hadn't sent anything.

That's sad to hear about your sis Mommamoonbeam.  We're all being bombarded constantly with advertising to buy name brands so it's not that surprising.  My family and I enjoy name brands too, but we love homemade as well. And I think your sis is not alone in stressing out over Christmas.  It's so easy to do. My family needed to re-examine the true meaning of Christmas and we never did that until my daughter was born.  Seeing Christmas through her eyes has made our Christmases more about spending time together and enjoying one another, as well as surprising each other with gifts.

I've been working on a set of crocheted TMNTs for my daughter for several months now and a few days ago got the nicest compliment from my mom who upon seeing them immediately wanted to buy them from me.  Smiley
