15  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 48 ENTRIES / mini paper bag book (extremely photo heavy) on: March 02, 2010 11:10:48 AM
Inspired by paper bag scrap books like this one https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=117581.0 I made a teeny tiny scrapbook of a trip to venice with my friends.  However this was much more of a hassle then i thought it would be! I wanted to have the pockets the same way big paper bag books do, but what I didnt realize was that I would have to sew every page together! SO needless to say it took a lot longer then I had planned but I'm so excited with how it turned out! each page is  made of 2 sewn together squares of paper bag a little less than  2"x2"  and I made tiny squares with a paper punch with little paper tabs to come out of the pockets. a tiny strip of paper is acordian folded and glued together for a kind of make-shift binding and then used a piece of paper glued to the first and last piece as the front and back cover and supporting the binding with an elastic band to hold it shut.

and some of the pages:

and the rest are in my gallery:

17  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / I need your crafty minds!! on: April 23, 2008 08:28:33 AM
I have an assignment for a class that i need to make a decorative carved wood handle for a tool. It doesn't have to make the tool easy to use or anything it just has to some how reflect the tools meaning and be decorative and of course attach to the tool. I have no ideas what soever...I don't even know what kind of tool I'm going to use...but I put it here because I plan on displaying it when it's done in my Paris themed bedroom so if I could make it fit that theme it would be great.  the definitions of tool its based off of are 1) any instrument of manual operation. and 2) anything used as a means of accomplishing a task or purpose: Education is a tool for success.  Any ideas at all are highly appreciated...even if its just for a tool I could use. in the past people have used things ranging from hammers and garden rakes to umbrellas, to perfume bottles and silver pitchers.  Crossing my fingers for some great responses...thanks craftster!
18  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / scrapbook swap? on: August 10, 2007 01:17:37 AM
it may be too difficult of a swap since scrapbooking is really a personal thing but i think it would be fun if you email your partner pictures of you and your friends, fam, etc and they made you a scrapbook using your pictures. or maybe you could just send a book of collaged scrapbook size pages so you would end up with more of an art journal from someone else. or they could just premake layouts and leave spaces for you to add your own photos and journaling...what do you guys think?
19  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / has anyone tried this?! on: July 29, 2007 01:55:39 AM
my bestie is moving for collage soon and i want to make her something great to take with her...i was thinking about transferring a picture i have of us on to a pillowcase with iron on transfer paper to use as a stencil to cover in embroidery...so basically it would be the picture i transferred but completely done in needlework.  has anyone tried something like this before...using a photograph as a stencil? is this even possible?
