I don't think that people will be selecting books to look at based on the thickness...I think they will be more intrigued by the variety of styles and medium used...I wish I got one with multiple signatures because that it what I ended up doing with my pages anyway! grrr--it would have saved me a bunch of time, maybe!

I am really interested in trying out so many techniques and the oil pastels that aroze mentioned!  I might screw it up, but it will be fun and a learning process for me...I just realized how many paper artists that I admire are doing this!
What a gift to have their experience and guidance!

Have you seen this?  I don't advocate smoking, but I realize that many of my friends are going to smoke not matter what so I want to make a few of these!  This is a great idea for anyone who rolls their own cigs!

Wow--I think it is great that you guys are experimenting and discovering what works and what doesn't and sharing the info...and sometimes happy accidents happen...like spilling coffee, splattering paint, and touching wet watercolors with your greasy fingers!

I use gesso on my huge paintings because it keeps the paint from soaking up into the canvas...it is like a primer..I have used watercolor pencils in my paintings, but not for the watercolor affect--more for a softer line...it does not bleed into anything gessoed for me...

Bethieb--score for $3 watercolor paper!  Michaels and Joann's both have their artist supplies on sale, including the papers...I use a 90 Lb. paper that runs about $8 on sale...to be honest, I am not sure what the difference would be as it is the only paper I have ever used... (habit!)...I might need to swing by Walmart and check it out!

I am using some of my tests to make ATC backgrounds so nothing is getting wasted! Cheesy

ha raerae--the younger kids who go to my profile might like your comment but it might raise an eyebrow with my mom and other older family members! Wink  You are too sweet!  I hope to comment on many more of you so go get signed up and post!

YAY! Happy mail day for you Ffrogg526!

I plan on seeing the exhibit in Brooklyn---it will give me many excuses to go into the city!  I am going to be sure to print out a list of people's that I want to touch and review in person...that would just be so wonderful!

To be honest--it really is not a very well thought out site...I also think it is difficult to navigate, but while I am on a long and boring tech call, I have plenty of time to browse and explore Cheesy--and it is dodgey as far as locking up--it is because they have their pages with photos called up even if you do not need those pages...they also have a few spelling errors and bad links... Cheesy

great pic, especially next to camping stuff!

It seemed more people liked the 40's and 50's!! and 80's!

Maybe the 70's are all played out in England! Cheesy

Anyway, it looked like a lot of fun and you look stylishly hippie!

You have to log in to your account.  Then on the red tool bar, there is an ABOUT-hold your mouse over it and you will see FAQ's...under FAQ's, second column, you will see a section that says if you have additional questions...the link then takes you to FormSpring, but you do not have to sign up to view the questions that have been asked, re: size, damaged label, etc.

Sorry, but I am a site geek and I have been all over that site, including the disclaimers! ha ha

Below are direct copies from the FAQ pages:

1.
I re-bound my sketchbook for the sketchbook project, and accidentally made it too large- 8 1/2 x 5 3/4 instead of 5 1/2 in. Will it be rejected for such a small size difference?
That's fine.
 2.
I've signed up for the Sketchbook Project. I've read through the rules, and I can only find a rule saying it has to stay within the 5.5 x 8.5 dimensions. And I've read that we're allowed to re-bind it. Can it be thicker, then?
Yes it can
3.
A couple of the numbers got smudged underneath the barcode when I removed some tape that accidentally got stuck to it. None of the bars were affected only the numbers underneath. Do you think the barcode is still okay or could it be damaged?
It should be fine. We will fix it when we get the books back if it does not work. Its not a problem

Please do not hesitate to ask anymore questions...I am happy to help where ever I can...I am not an expert or anything, just a good researcher! Cheesy

What a lovely way to welcome a new life into this world!  So cute and I am sure your friend will appreciate the love that went into making something so personal.

Of course, now you will be expected to spoil the baby even more in the future with your sewing skills! Wink
