11  Re: Slow cloth/boro embroidery patches - Gallery in The Swap Gallery by alwaysinmyroom on: April 15, 2017 10:08:21 AM
I am so excited to see what AIMR does with the thing I sent her and am patiently waiting for pics but in the meantime I thought I'd show you this little teaser. It's probably less than a 1" square patch, I went teeny weeny and super detailed.

Do you guys remember the awesome piece I got from craftylittlemonkey?  Well, I finally got around to sewing it up as per her instructions, and here is how it turned out!  I love it!  I stuffed the insides with poly so I can use it as a pincushion for some of my quilting pins!  What a clever piece you designed, CLM!  It was perfect and quite easy to put together!

I saved the little scraps that had beautiful stitching on it to use for a fabric journal page I am making...BONUS!

Thanks again for a lovely swap!

Kittykill made a super video on how to make faux chocolate Easter eggs!  Check it out!

I made a few and had so much fun!  These were the only flowers I had.  I am taking them to the nursing home to my SIL, so they will be fine since she loves bright colors.  I want to get cream or white decorations since that is how I remember them as a kid!

Anyway, Easter eggs!

I will scan my flowchart for you edelc! lol  It is insane but keeps me on track and organized!

Challenge #1:

I didn't make a single quilt in 2016...all of my quilted projects were small, the largest being a Halloween runner!  wow...I need to make up for that slacking behavior this year! lol

edelc--not sure how luggage charges work internationally, but when I went to Japan, I bought another suitcase while I was there and then paid for it to get home...the cost was way less than shipping so I packed that bag up to the maximum weight of 66 pounds! ha ha And yeah, a lot of it was Japanese fabrics...

Those little felt twinchies could be the start of yet another scrap busting addiction!  So cute, CLM!

Both of my partners received in the TM patch swap:

A friend of mine lost her second child a few days after she was born...her name was Violet.  Each year for about five years, they celebrate her short life and share it with her older sister and little brother.  I was trying to think of something I could make to help in the celebration and remembrance.

I decided to make some spring things for them...not finished yet with little brother's gifts yet, but working on it!

Here is the whole group:

For the sister, I made a mini tote bag and coin purse:

For my friend, I made a patchwork pouch and for both of them, I made tissue holders:

I had a busy weekend and it was nice to have sad and happy memories of baby Violet.

That hexie quilt is amazing!  That had to take FOREVER!!!

Also loving the t-shirt quilt...all the lines look perfect!

The elephant hoop is as sweet as the lamb...are they the same designer?

I need to learn how to make those t-shirt bags...I have a box of old t-shirts that are not good enough to give to charity but nice enough not to throw out! Is there a simple link on how to make them?

Still learning to cook...made a salad of all sorts of green stuff, red quinoa, roasted beets (yum!), and parsnips...doubt that I will make it again as quinoa gets slimey after a bit...but I will roast beets and parsnips again for sure!

I will comment on the patches later...there is so much to say!  But, now, I have to show off the beautiful handiwork of my partner, JoyfulClover!  I am blown away!

She and I like the show "Stranger Things" that was on Netflix this summer...the kids in the show are phenomenal actors...the young person who plays Eleven in the series is exceptional...as is this embroidered patch!!!!

Next up...for my bugs theme....oh yeah...my own praying mantis!!!!  Look at the teeny tiny stitches!!!  I had to use my old trusty magnifying glass!

And finally, for my black/red/white color scheme patches...and, what looks like poppies to me....this beauty!

I love the variety and the skills are exceptional!  Thanks for being an awesome partner and adding to my collection from this talented group!

Hello, my name is Linda and I am a fabricholic!  Which is one reason I have to quilt...I have to have some justification for buying cute fabrics and adding to my stash...I actually have a flow chart I call my Fabric Hierarchy....it is a chart that suggests usage of my fabric, from large pieces for quilts to the tiniest pieces for making new "recycled" fabrics! It keeps me on track and helps me sort all of my fabrics, scraps and threads.

Here are the projects I am working on for 2017:

1. Gypsy Wife Quilt--this requires 72 different blocks.  I have 36 made so far.

2. I Love You bunny baby quilt...the top is done

3. Rainbow with Black quilt--all pieces cut out and ready to sew

4. Tula Pink fabric...not sure yet what I want to do with this fabric

5. Kaffe Fassett 10" squares...the top is done; needs borders

6.Kewpie doll baby quilt

7. Cancer Survivor headscarf Quilt

8. Baby Girl Birdie Quilt

9. Red, white and blue baby quilt--in progress

10. Red, white and black mystery quilt -- needs borders

wow  this gallery is exploding with lovelies!

Love the idea of doing cross stitch in patches...words would be so much easier for me that embroidery!  Love the sewing themed one!

The bunnies are so detailed and such a mix of beads, fabric, stitches...lovely work, CLM!

I also guessed Picasso and Matisse...because they are so representative of those artists, CLM!  Good job capturing their style in fabric patches!

I have been working a lot of hours, so it has been tough to get on here, but I received some beautiful patches from Noooitaremybirthday!!!  I scanned them at work...I will take real pictures when I get home!  They are also a nice mix of things I love so much!

They really are brighter in real life...love the words, the sequins, the beads and the crazy mix of fabrics!

She also sent some beautiful fabrics for me to use and a cute wooden fairy door!  Thanks so much...more pics later!

Here is a really simple quilt I made using a charm pack...I have tons of charm pack patterns...this one is basically a 9 patch and then a square in a square pattern...
