5301  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Quilt Challenge #1 on: January 15, 2007 03:53:56 PM
This is my entry into this challenge:

5303  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: I bought 150 2 1/2 inch squares now what.Whats your favorite ??? on: January 14, 2007 04:25:55 PM
I received a bunch of 4" squares in a swap earlier this summer and used them to make a quilt.  I just laid them out in a pattern I liked, sewed them together in strips and then sewed those stripes together - it took no time at all to make a small quilt top.  That's what I would do - then, when finished, add a border and you have yourself a small lap quilt!
5304  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Backing a cotton quilt with flannel on: January 14, 2007 04:23:15 PM
I'm still working on my purple/yellow quilt but have a question about the backing.  I have a large flannel sheet that, color wise, would make a great backing for my quilt but I don't know how good it would work.  Has anyone ever backed a cotton fronted quilt with flannel?  I guess I'm concerned that the flannel might shrink more than the cotton whenever I wash it and also how well does flannel quilt.  Any suggestions or ideas would be much appreciated.

Homerof2, I love all of your blocks!  Are you intending to put a larger border around your quilt or will you leave it small size?

I'm going to put enough of a border on it so that it's the size of a lap quilt - I'm thinking it needs to be about 5" wide.

Anyway, I'm just about done with all of my blocks.  Here are a few more.  I made a mistake on the Christmas block, but if no one else can find it, I'm not going to go back and redo the block.

Fantastic squares!  Two comments - what month is the frog from (I'm thinking the applique month) and I, too, can see the mistake on the December square but maybe once it's together and you don't tell people, no one will notice.

That is so cute!  however, you probably wouldn't want to wear it without lining it or something - if cut-up trash bags are itchy, than ribbon must be even worse!

I'm sure this would be very itchy but I'll never know since it's about the size a five year old would wear!
5307  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: One Tiny Thing Round 10 - Signups Closed, Mail out by January 30 on: January 13, 2007 01:16:42 PM
This swap is now full - I'm working on getting partners out today and/or tomorrow.

I'll do my best in the partner matching - I found it wasn't as easy as I thought it might be and hopefully everyone will be happy with who they get.  I did my best to follow any requests (such as not shipping outside your country), etc.

This is a pretty cool idea! And, I like the 2-tone look!

Thanks!  As I said earlier, it wasn't planned that way but I liked it in the end.
