My Mom bought this really ugly cabinet (I don't think that's the correct word for it... but I'm going to call it that anyway because my brain isn't working) at the thrift store over a year ago. It was made out of this ugly cheap wood and had a really cheapo finish on it and these ugly gray knobs. It's been sitting in the garage ever since... so I asked if I could have it.
I really wasn't too sure what I was going to do to it.... but I started out by painting it completely black. I asked my boyfriend if he had any suggestions and he mentioned putting silver or glitter on the drawers. I looked through my supply of scrapbooking paper and had one sheet of silver glitter paper. It was perfect! So I got out the Mod Podge and covered the front of the drawers with it. It turned out super!
I spray painted the knobs black to cover up the old hideous gray.
But somehow... it wasn't quite complete. I bought some lace about a month ago at the thrift store and a brilliant idea popped into my head. I sprayed stencil adhesive to the lace and covered the top and sides of the cabinet/shelve/drawer thing with it. I got out the silver metallic spray paint and sprayed over the lace. I removed the lace after it dried and the result was awesome!
This is what I ended up with!
It did have 6 drawers.... but I only used three because I liked the idea of having shelves, too.
Here's a shot I'm including to show off the shelves I painted two months ago. They were originally black... now they're hot pink with blue, green, and yellow paint splattered all over them.
I didn't take any before pictures because I didn't think about it until it was too late.... but I do have a picture of a drawer (which I already started painting black) to show you what the finish of the cabinet looked like before.
I'm quite proud of it. =) I love how the drawers sparkle.
