So I'm planning on making this for my mother for Christmas. She has been a quilter for over 20 years, and treasures any hand made gift, so I know she'll love it. It's so cute I might have to make one for myself.http://dontlooknow.typepad.com/.a/6a00e54fd536558834010536a06c1d970b-pi
So here's the ambitious aspect - I have never done any applique and haven't quilted since I did a very basic quilt when I was about 7 years old. I'm very comfortable with my sewing machine, and while the applique doesn't intimidate me, the gorgeous quilting pattern the designer used on this pillow does. She used a a swirl flower background fill design, which, while it looks absolutely gorgeous, I think it might be a bit out of my capabilities at the moment. Does anyone know of something that is a bit more easy but not boxy (ie. not a grid?)
I don't have free motion presser foot - should I find one? I'm sure Bernina makes one, it just might be a few weeks before I can afford it
Any other suggestions/help? Am I crazy for attempting this?
