4  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Fairy cakes, fairy cakes on: June 29, 2009 10:19:59 AM
first of all, whenever i see a big plump raspberry sitting on top of a cupcake, i think of the beginning credits to amelie with one on each of her fingers!

raspberry and lemon are such a great flavor combination! i've done the hidden raspberry before, but i did it with a chocolate cupcake with raspberry buttercream frosting, i HIGHLY recommend trying that as well!

that is QUITE the handsome face on that dog! i think the hardest thing about sculpting anything is capturing character and individuality, and you definitely achieved it!

you could hypothetically cover these with resin and make a table top out of them too, right?

she should definitely keep practicing and baking and remind her "friend" that practice makes perfect!

those butterflies are so detailed! i love how the bunch of them look grouped together.

hello all! this is my first time posting in the food board, but not my last! i recently (as in, may) decided to switch schools and majors to pursue a career in pastry arts! i'm super excited to start baking this fall. i had a total "stranger than fiction" moment and realized how much more time i spent baking/recipe hunting than doing my homework.

anyway, this is one of my favorite pie recipes, fresh cherry pie made with bing cherries (i made 4 of them over memorial day weekend!)

here' three of them, the first was made the day before and taken to a birthday cook out.

my great-grandmother's vent pattern

^ now these were made with frozen crusts... i have just started making my own, but i don't have any photos to show you!

for father's day, i made martha stewart's strawberry cream cake

this was delicious, but honestly, i'd double the recipe next time (and there WILL be a next time!) because the layers of the cake just weren't THICK enough, and i would have LOVED more strawberries. doubling the recipe would definitely add to the drama, i think.

edit: finally figured out how to get the http addresses on flicker!
