21  Re: Crochet Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Trifarina on: April 25, 2007 10:43:56 AM
I picked up my package at the post office this morning from uknowulovit!

The pictures were taken in the parking garage because I couldn't wait to get home from work to open it!

I got an awesome headband, the colors are perfect!

A hemp/cowrie shell bracelet...

and a journal/binder to organize all of my printed up patterns from the internet and all of my crochet project notes.

Thanks so much!

Here are some closeups of the hooks...

I tried to burn the hook size on the flat base of the hook, but they might be hard to read.  I don't remember anymore what they were, but I think there was a P, O, and Q.

Bunnyboo!  I am so excited!!!  I tried all the Mexican grocery stores by my house with no luck.  Then Saturday I was kind of restless and ended up following a tortilla truck (I am so not kidding...).  This led me to a few more markets and finally.... jackpot!!!

They are wonderful!!!

Here's the doily I made Saturday night-Sunday.  It's wet, the color is more like cranberry.

24  handmade crochet hooks in Crochet: Completed Projects by Trifarina on: April 01, 2007 02:01:00 PM
I carved some crochet hooks out of dowel rods and thought I'd share.  It was pretty hard work and I now have wood shavings all over my apartment, but I like them.  I used my woodburning tool to embellish with pictures of my favorite microfossils (foraminifera) before finishing with wax.

26  Re: Crocheted Coral Reef in Crochet: Completed Projects by Trifarina on: March 21, 2007 01:22:12 PM
I have to say it's kind of nice to not use a pattern or anything, and it was fun to try different materials.

Here's one I made with a roll of contractor's flagging tape.  It turned out like one of those spirally things to leave out in the wind.

The Institute for Figuring is in the process of building their crochet coral reef and are accepting contributions.

Here are a few that I made and am about to drop in the mail!

29  My first doilies in Crochet: Completed Projects by Trifarina on: March 05, 2007 10:12:26 AM
Here are my first two attempts at doilies.  I thought they were really fun to make because it all unfolded like a mysterious puzzle.

This first one I worked in white, then dyed electric orange

The second one turned out really huge, over 40 inches in diameter.  I'm sending it to my parents for St. Patrick's Day.
