1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: ma sexeh new scarf on: September 16, 2004 05:58:50 PM

i'll have to think of something smaller to make out of it next time, like a hat or something.. so i dont use as much yarn

I actually used this same yarn, same color to make a scarf.  It's soooo cute.  And as you said it does take a lot and for that reason I made a small(less wide) one and I like it even better than a wide one.  Yours looks great btw.  Adios.

Oh wow, this is nifty!  Damn I must learn to knit.  Is it hard to learn?  I crochet, but totally suck at converting patterns.
I don't think it's hard to learn at all.  I taught myself how in a weekend and if you're not good at alterations have someone who's good at math do it.

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My Poncho!!!!! on: August 14, 2004 06:16:51 AM
This is the first extensive project I've ever made.  I saw a picture of a poncho and hood in Delias's magazine and I love how it looked so I decided to make one of my own.  Here's some pics:

The hood looks better down than up because it's kinda big.
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help...Fishtail stitch II??? on: July 08, 2004 01:15:10 PM
I'm designing a poncho for myself.  I'm basing it of Delia's Lulu poncho...it's the same stitch.  I found the directions for the stitch in a very, very old book of my mother's but the abbreviations used are confusing and there isn't a key.  Can anyone help.  Here's the directions:

Multiple of 10
Row 1: Wrn to m 1, k 3, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k3, m 1, k1
Row 2 and alt rows: P
Row 3: K 1, m 1, k2, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k 2, m 1, k 2
Row 5: K 2, m 1, k 1, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k 1, m 1, k 3
Row 7: K 3, m 1, sl 1, k2tog, psso, m1, k 4

My real problem understanding is the "Wrn to m 1" part and the "m 1" itself.  Usually m 1 means the marker or to "make one" but I don't understand.  the design also has holes in it and I don't see in the pattern where they would come from.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.
Here's a pic
It's the top stitch

I'm not sure about that "knit into first stitch" but I would think you would start with row one after you purl the fourth.  Sry I can't be more help.

Well I hope I fixed it.  I tried blocking...that didnt' work.  I tried to fortify the edge...that didn't work.  So I ironed it.  For now it worked I just hope it stays like that.  Here's a pic
