381  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Question about Knitty's Crusoe socks on: January 07, 2006 04:51:32 AM
I know a couple of people have made them, but I haven't (yet).

From what I remember, the "floats" or strands are quite short and so I'm not sure they would catch on too much.

If you are in any doubt, you could knit a little swatch and put it in your shoes.  If you do catch it on stuff, then you haven't wasted your time knitting a pair of sock you'd never wear!

382  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Dino spiked hoodie. Tutorial included! *Works now!* on: January 07, 2006 04:40:08 AM
Thinking outloud here - what if you made just a hood - like a hat.  So you'd take a pattern for a hooded top but just use the hood and put the spikes in.  I think some kind of tie under the chin to hold it on would be a good thing.

Would that be a cool?
383  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / ISO: pink camo fabric (UK) on: January 07, 2006 02:41:29 AM
I'm in desperate search of non-military-coloured camo (I like subversion) and I'd love some pink stuff.  I've searched the places I know and come up empty handed.  Short of designing and dying my own - what can I do?

Ideally I'd like a mail order, UK-based, source, but I'm willing to go further afield.

Can anyone can help me?

Yours, in pink camo hope,

One word: inspi-flippin'-rational!

I've now got a t-shirt, a pair of scissors and I'm going out to see if I can get an eyelet kit.
385  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Camo messenger bag on: December 15, 2005 03:30:04 AM
I've now added two pieces of Velcro to the bag as a fastener.  I sewed them on length-wise so that when the bag is full it still closes securely.

I think boys like velco becuase of the noise!

This is a bag I've made for my brother for Christmas.  I can't showcase it on my blog, becuase he sometimes reads it!

One of the pocket inside:

I got the pattern from a programme called "Wild Things" http://www.wildginger.com/downloads/wtdemoform.htm
387  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: mystery shawl 2 on: October 31, 2005 02:41:16 PM
Everybody seems to be ahead of me!  I've just finished clue 2 (after frogging nearly all of it because I was 6 stitches in credit!)

'Scuse me - where's my motivation?  Grin
