2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Atrocious Color Choices on: January 25, 2006 03:15:33 PM
ok, here's the link:http://www.coatsandclark.com/find_a_product/knitting_crochet/E267/html/e267.htm
here are the colors: 596 purple (everytime i'm at hobby lobby or wherever and i see this color it actually hurts my eyes...) 902 jockey red, 245 orange, 950 mexicana (i'm mexican and have never misused color in this way ever).
these are all terrible colors....
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: panta! (from a finnish pattern). on: January 10, 2006 10:14:28 PM
i have the book "viva poncho" and there is a pattern for a one piece wrap around in this stitch - lovely....  i tried to make the poncho using the books instructions and it came out terrible (not the books fault - i'm just a newbie knitter), but with all the advice here i'm gonna give it the ol' college try again.
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Do you dream about knitting? on: January 03, 2006 03:03:09 PM
so funny...i just bought a book on making poncho's and i'm a new knitter so learning new stitches involves me saying them quietly to myself to remember the pattern. i went on a knitting binge (i went to bed around 4am) to make one of the ponchos and woke up (around 9 am) mumbling "yarn over....slip one....knit two together..."
5  UNITED STATES / Colorado / Re: thrifty joints in denver on: November 15, 2005 11:14:46 AM
has anyone been to the goodwill (i think it's a goodwill, might be a salvation army though) behind target on colorado blvd?  they sell stuff from target there at a HUGE discount. i've found fabric for crafting and they have some pretty cool clothes there too.  it is behind target on colorado and the cross street is virginia.
6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: source for flour sack towels? on: August 19, 2005 09:51:39 AM
go chelsea...you'll be shocked at how great they are.  i know i'm being fanatical but after i stitched on them i wonder how i used anything else.  the walmart ones are the pits, as a matter of fact last night i finished a towel(martha stewart towel) and decided to finish a project from last week (wal mart towel) and had to put it down because i couldn't even get a french knot to hold - i just put it away after getting totally frustrated.  i bought 9 packs of them to hold me over...hehehe...
7  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Re: Thoughts While Stitching on: August 18, 2005 12:57:24 PM
my husband bought me an ipod for my birthday so i rock out to it (loud) while sitting in the back yard...i guess i'm thinking about how fan-stinkin-tastic whatever i'm making is going to come out....  but i like to theme what i listen to, to what i stitch.  jenny's counrty cool theme has niko case all over it....
8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: source for flour sack towels? on: August 18, 2005 12:32:52 PM
i finally found quality towels at of all places - kmart.  martha stewart flour sack towels are to die for.  they are thick enough that your floss doesn't get pulled through the other side.  i'm in denver and found them 4 for $6 (they are on sale this week BOGO 50% off).  but they are even on all side and fabulous!!!

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: Cute Embroidery Patterns?? on: August 17, 2005 10:20:31 AM
I found a book called 1000 Motifs for Crafters: Designs for Glass Painting, Stenciling, Mosaics, Decoupage, Stamping & Counted Thread Work by Alan Gear and Barry Freestone.  It has just about every theme you can think of and it is all line illistrations.  It sort of looks like coloring book drawings but of gobs of different topics (Egyptian, dogs, dutch, mexican, hearts etc...).
Also, I had been buying flour sack towels from walmart (don't hate on me, it's the only place I could find them...) and they were terrible and hard to stitch on because the thread count was so low.  Well, leave it to Martha Stewart to make flour sack towels that are to die for (tight weave and very easy to stitch!!) - 4 for $5.
