I am wanting to buy an industrial machine for cover stitching (flatbed) can anyone recommend a good make? I have looked at buying the Kansai Special or the Juki and wondered if anyone out there has a similar machine and could let me know the advantages and disadvantages of these types of machines and any recommendations of any other brand.
Does anyone know how to line a pinafore (without hand stitching it but by machining it on)? I have nearly finished making my daughter a pinafore it has a yoke on the top and it flares just under the bust area but I am now stuck as I cant work out how to do it. A tut would be helpful !! Thanks for your help
Love your top! I am going to do a patternmaking course but have to do online as I work full time. I have bought a couple of books though on ebay Pattern Dress Design by Natalie Bray and the More pattern dress design by same author they are really good as its in metric and the other one that I paid top dollar for by ARmstrong is in inches (so hard to make in inches I am a metric person and cant get my head around inches) But anyway I am sure you will pass with glowing colours for your effort in making that lovely top. I love all these designs this year, very 60's isnt it!
Does anyone know how to make a puff ball skirt or dress? They were popular in the 80s and have come back in fashion they are also called tulip style I think. I am going to make the pattern myself so I need to know what styleline. Thanks!
Hi there! lovely dress. I reckon it looks like its been ruched up the front rather like those kind of curtains that pull up (forgotten the name of them now I think they are called austrian blinds if I remember). and then there is a flower sewn to where it pulls up to stop it from coming down. You can see in the photo two casings which is probably where the drawstrings would go. Hope this helps !
