1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / What to do with gauchos? How to make into a skirt? on: October 29, 2006 09:09:07 AM
I have a bunch of knit "gauchos" that I don't wear anymore. I'm over the trend, but want to do something crafty with them. Any ideas on how to transform them into a cute skirt? Or any other ideas? I was thinking of taking the seams out and re-sewing them ... but I don't think the skirt would look that great with the seams going down the center and on the sides...

Help a girl out?

TIA!
2  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / Cheap ballet flats... on: April 09, 2006 09:11:17 AM
I've been inspired by everyone's crafty shoes, but I have a dilemma. The salon I work for doesn't allow flip flops or sneakers. Does anyone have any suggestions for places to find cute, cheap ballet flats, or other "dressier" shoes I can craft with? Unfortunately I don't have a Value Village anywhere near me, and I am looking for a pair of never-been-worn shoes to work with.

Thank you!

3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Help with Kenmore sewing machines... (please :)... ) on: July 17, 2005 11:40:19 AM
I'm not sure if this is the best place to put this but... I've searched through the massive thread on sewing machines and looked on a bunch of sites looking for which sewing machine to get... I think I'm going to go with a Kenmore (to start out with and upgrade to a heavier duty machine a little later)... The machine will be used for alterations and clothing construction... I'm not planning on doing quilting and most embroidery will be done by hand... eventually I will be looking into getting a serger (once I see how this goes... and I save up some more money Smiley ) If things go well and I get some more experience sewing (its been awhile since I've made anything) I will be looking to sell some items...

I have found a few that look promising... but I was wondering if anyone owned one of these models or had any suggestions...

Any help will be greatly appreciated... Thank You!!!!!!
