Hello! I've been lurking here for a while now and I'm not sure why but I'm really in the mood to share today. I took up knitting in February after getting the SNB books for christmas then having an aunt-in-law show me how to do a double cast-on and a knit stitch. I've been on my own with books and knittinghelp.com since and have gotten fairly obsessive about it. I think it's because I used to study sculpture and haven't been creative in a non-computer way in a long, long time and now I finally have that creative spark again.
I love seeing what everyone else has made here. You are all so talented! Something made me think I should finally de-lurk and show some some of my stuff tonight.http://photos14.flickr.com/22968250_46b791bd17_m.jpghttp://www.flickr.com/photos/littlehedgehog/sets/498016/
My first sweater! This is the "Baby Kimono" from Interweave Knits knit in a Sirdar "Tiny Tots" Baby yarn. I knit it in stockinette with garter edges rather than all in garter and made a big button flap with a big wooden button rather than ribbon to close.http://photos15.flickr.com/21400689_1469ed34d6_m.jpghttp://www.flickr.com/photos/littlehedgehog/sets/498005/
A simple garter scarf knit from this completely crazy yarn I'd bought at a local fiber arts fair. It has three strands: one is a pink and orange variegated cottony string, one is a weird orangish poly fluff ladder, the last is a very very think pink sparkly polymid. It's the Craaaaaazy Scarf!http://photos16.flickr.com/19997070_cbb0aecb23_m.jpghttp://www.flickr.com/photos/littlehedgehog/sets/468168/
a fun fur toy hedgehog made for my nephew vaguely based on a pattern I found at a scandinavian arts store but seriously altered to suit a picky hedgehog owner http://photos17.flickr.com/19997093_55254c9551_m.jpghttp://www.flickr.com/photos/littlehedgehog/sets/468179/
knit in lion cotton from chic knits bucket hat but resized to fit my baby niecehttp://photos23.flickr.com/24447839_31584214c0_m.jpghttp://www.flickr.com/photos/littlehedgehog/sets/558959/
Knit for my mom. My first lace project and of course it had to be in Fiesta's Rayon Boucle because I'm a total masochist. The pattern was a zig zag lace washcloth pattern from about.com that I just kept knitting. I cut the yarn way too short for the fringe to look right so I took some of the pieces and put beads on the end.http://photos21.flickr.com/24445255_dab363850e_m.jpg
Three purses. The pink one with the bamboo handle is from a pattern on the JoAnn website. Knit in lion brand landscapes then felted. Since it's 50% acrylic it didn't totally felt which I think makes it look really cool. I made a matching belt that closes with bamboo o rings to match. The red one is from Hello Yarn but I added the marsupial part from SnB. And the third one is a something I made up with Wool Ease and some nice fun fur called Firenze. It's not felted and is knit in stockinette with fun fur at the top so it has a rolled brim. I made a rolled scarf boa thing to match. I made the wool/fun fur one for my best friend's birthday.
I hope that's not too many photos and that you all like them
Feeling like a total showoff now.
