Inselaeffchen~ Fantastic secret swap item. Great scrapbook pages. When I am making a batch of lip balm I use the recipe from the book D.I.Y. girl with alterations, I will also add more wax to the little bit of salve that won't quite fill the last jar. Basically I take 1/4 cup oil (I like to use an infused oil), and add anywhere from 1 to 3 teaspoons of beeswax, and a small amount of Shea Butter (heat the oil and stir in the butter and wax, a teaspoon at a time until melted). To test the consistency I place a spoon coated in the mixture in the freezer for a few minutes. Once I have a consistency I like, I mix in 10-20 drops of essential oil (my favorite to use for this is peppermint but my siblings don't like it much) and a little bit of lipstick to color the balm (it doesn't really color the lips). Then pour it (you may need to reheat so you can pour it) into tins and let it cool. The book suggests adding 1/8 teaspoon glycerin for shininess, a vitamin E capsule for preserving (I add enough essential oil that I don't worry about adding vitamin E unless I have some on hand, which I didn't this time), and/or food grade glitter (because glitter). The heating can be done in the microwave or on the stove. Initially I heat the oil in twenty second increments for about a minute and if I need to reheat while I am making it I do so 10-15 seconds at a time. Hope that helps.
ErinAquaheart~ I'm updating points in the common room and I was wondering which lesson with Harry your hand warmers were for (shield charm perhaps?), they are quite lovely by the way. Congrats on organizing your letter and number beads. I finished organizing my seed beads last month, it took me over a year to get them all sorted.

Wulf, I received and posted pictures. I'm pretty sure I sent you a PM about it (see page three of the thread). Perhaps it got eaten by the Internet.
Everything looks great I especially like the Arianrhod shrine Wulf received.

ladychris2010 Welcome to Slytherin house. I can't wait to see what you have in store. Our common room is on page four of this thread if you haven't found it already.

We made it to the final quidditch match. To win the quidditch cup, we have to win by a margin of 770 points. Lets do this!

ladychris2010~ Welcome! Yes a single House Unity or House Pride project is enough to earn a year. All you have to do to earn a year is submit one class/challenge for house points (so not common room challenges).

68  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Has anyone fed the goats yet? on: February 04, 2014 09:27:43 AM
I live on a little urban farm with my mom, sister, and brother. We have goats, rabbits, and chickens (we also have a pet cat, dog, Guinea pig, and some fish). One of the hardest things lately has been figuring out which farm chores have already been done (especially when I sleep in and everyone is gone when I wake up). So, to make a long story somewhat shorter my mom asked me to make her a farm chore chart. We went to Hobby Lobby and got two wooden wooden coat racks (these ones) and some painted wood cut outs. The result was this chore chart

The top row is for chores that need to be done and the bottom row is for chores to be done. We couldn't find any goat cut outs so the goats chores are represented by a cow, and the pig represents the Guinea pig chores. Now I don't have to annoy my siblings by asking them if the goats have been fed every morning.

I really hope this is the right place for this project...
