~*OWL PROPOSAL HEADER*~
OWL Subject & Option: History of Magic (Option 1)
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: House Clothes
Brief Description: I sew a lot of doll clothes and am definitely in a rut.  In an effort to shake things up a bit, add to my larger dolls' wardrobe, and practice some techniques I haven't used in a while, I would like to create four sets of clothes representing each House.  I'll try to give a nod to house colors, but these aren't going to be uniforms - just what a house member might wear while lounging around the common room.

Oooooh! Fun!! Cheesy Can't wait to see these! Cheesy

Hello, Fellow Students, and Happy March!!  As some or all of you may know, March is the birth month of one of our illustrious professors, Sybill Patricia Trelawney. Ms. Trelawney was known to make false (or at least highly inaccurate) predictions, but she also made at least two true prophecies. She also participated in the Battle of Hogwarts, dropping crystal balls on the heads of Death Eaters, and later helping to tend the wounded.

During the month of March, you have the opportunity to celebrate this remarkable woman by crafting with something you really do know how to do, or by faking it with confidence while you try something new. If you chose to do so, you can bag yourself a snazzy badge Wink and your name will be entered into a prize drawing that will be held by me on the 1st of April (no fooling!)

This badge does not give any points, but you may claim it by doing a class project that fulfills the requirements (which, let's face it, is pretty much any one of them, LOL!) If you choose, you may also claim it by doing a dedicated project (perhaps because you couldn't make your project fit a class prompt and just want to enter the drawing.)

You could win this cake trinket box!

Wow, EdelC, I LOVE that book! All the papers inside are so cool! And I think it's great that you use your bookd for everything. I have  abad habit of saving things "for good stuff" and never using them.  Roll Eyes It's much better to be surrounded by things you love and to use them all the time!! Cheesy

Those flapjacks sound delicious. And here I am trying to get back on the anti-inflammatory wagon, LOL!

Moonflame,  I have been wanting to make a weighted blanket.  I have bought pellets and fabric.  I am unsure what to do for filling it though-  Did you use stuffing and pellets, or just pellets?

I didn't use any stuffing, just pellets.

I used 2 pieces of fleece that my daughter picked out and sewed the sides and bottom together, then turned it right-side-out and marked the lines I wanted in chalk. I then sewed the vertical channels (I had 6) and we weighed and poured scoops into each channel. I then lifted the blanket by the top so all the pellets fell to the bottom of the channels and sewed the bottom horizontal line. We weighed and poured again, and I lifted, shook them down and sewed the next horizontal line. I repeated until all horizontal lines were sewn (8 rows for this one) and then folded the top over and sewed it to finish it off. Smiley This guy has a great (smaller scale) tutorial. Hope that helps! Cheesy

Moonflame, what is Snow Ghost Pudding?  I've never heard of it. Sounds intriguing.

I can't believe it, but I found a link to the old magazine page that my mom got it from! Cheesy These days I have to make a triple batch, LOL, but it suuuuure is worth it. Cheesy Boy do I like dairy, lol. Might be time to cheat just a little soon. ^_^

OMG ErinAquaHearts, I LOVE all the awesome clothes you're making!! Cheesy

A couple more from me. . .

Class: Divination
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Anchor Blankor
Project Description: So a lot of people with autism find that they enjoy deep pressure, weighted vests and weighted blankets. I made this blanket for my eldest, who is on the spectrum, and she ADORES it! Cheesy It was supposed to weigh 12.5 lbs, but somehow my calculations got off (still not sure how) and judging by the pellets we used it's maybe only just over 10? Anyway, now 2 of my others are clamoring for one of their own, LOL! This is DEFINITELY something to make someone comfortable, and it does the job admirably. Cheesy They cost like $170 and up if you buy one, but this cost me about $50, maybe less.

Challenge: Headmistress's Challenge - Dragon Heartstring
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Pudding and Crust Deliciousness
Project Decription: We always made "Snow Ghost Pudding" when I was a kid, and I continued that tradition with my own family. Since my youngest and I are pretty much off dairy and sugar, I looked for a paleo alternative and ended up combining some recipes to make this. This is straight from my heart as I love a good dessert! Cheesy
For the crust:

    1/4 Cup Honey
1/2 Cup Coconut Oil at room temperature it should be the consistency of soft butter
    Pinch of salt
    1/2 c Cup Coconut Flour sifted (95g)
     1/2 c Almond Flour

For the pudding:

1 box silken tofu
1/3 c maple syrup
2 T cocoa powder
2 t vanilla
a pinch of salt

Use a mixer to combine the crust ingredients. Spread into an 8" x 8" pan and bake at 350 for 10-15 mins til lightly browned.

Mix up the filling ingredients and pour on top, then refrigerate until you can't wait any longer. Cheesy

Question for all you crochet experts here--

If I want to make a giant in the round blanket without a pattern do I just keep enlarging the same as the first few rounds? Like if I get to row 22 do I crochet two in the first crochet and then one crochet in the next 21?

You might end up liking Mistress Jennie's better, but here's one, too:

https://www.craftsy.com/blog/2015/10/crochet-a-flat-circle/

With this, you're just adding 1 *to each repeat within the round* before the next cluster of 2 into 1 stitch. So if you start with 6, round 2 has 2 in each (12 total) and round 3 has 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1 (18), round 4 has 2, 1, 1, 2, 1,1, 2, 1, 1. . . etc. and round 5 has 2, 1, 1, 1, 2, 1, 1, 1, 2, 1 ,1, 1 . . .
